If 50 million people didn't buy gas for their lawnmowers for a month.. would we save 50 million gallons of gas during that month?

If you believe this to be true, fax a letter to the White House, your Senators and your Representatives. Even if nothing comes of it, at least you are being proactive. I suspect that the government has thought of these things and are looking at other ways to help out. But it won't be easy for quite a while.

Fuel shortages are happening now, by next week all gas stations will be out of gas for a short period, conserving fuel and not wasting will be asked, and gas rationing will be coming right after that. It's going to be a year or so before things get back to somewhat normal, but gas is still going to cost you $5 a gallon or more after that.

50,000,000 gallons is what, 1 or 2 million barrels?

That per month is about a twentieth of what they are letting out of the strategic reserve.

It's not even a drop.

No can do, my lawnmower runs on Diesel!

On a serious note: I wish people would give this stupid theory a rest.
