A-Team in film comeback

By THOMAS WHITAKER

HOLLYWOOD is to make a film version of the hit 80s TV show The A-Team.

And muscleman Mr T — who played BA Baracus in the original series — is in talks for a cameo role.

The movie version is being scripted by a James Bond writer and will be more hard-hitting — like Die Hard or Lethal Weapon.

Co-producer Stephen J Cannell, creator of the action-packed show, said: “Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died.

“We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We’re not going to do that. In this the tone is more dangerous. You can die. It’s tense and exciting.”

The TV series featured four ex-soldiers on the run in the US after being framed for robbery.

Heroes “Hannibal” Smith (played by the late George Peppard), Faceman Peck (Dirk Benedict), “Howling Mad” Murdock (Dwight Schultz) and Baracus (Mr T - real name Lawrence Tero), protect the innocent from bad guys as they travel the country.

Americans recently voted The A-Team their favourite TV show from yesteryear.

"Plan".

I've caught myself using it on many occasions.

Please God don't make it into a comedy. I am so fed up with Hollywood ruining good shows from my childhood by turning them into comedies.

Until the studio decides they can make more money and appeal to the mainstream by making it into a comedy.

I really do hope it is more hard-hitting. I also hope they get something better than Mini-14s so they can actually hit the bad guys this time.

Redford as Hannibal? Blasphemy!!

I think George "liberal looney" Clooney would make a good Hannibal.

George Peppard (Hannibal) is dead, fellas.

This sounds like the movie version might actually be better than the original television show.

Better get rid of those mini 14's then.

If a car hits a ramp hidden by a bush in the desert, will the driver still be able to climb out, and throw his hat on the floor?

The previous answer with George clooney seems like the perfect cast, but will we also get cameo's from original villains? Too big forehead guy, and the guy with the really big ears and cocked eyes? Or will we get current action-movie staple henchmen like Danny Trejo and Al Leong? (look em up on the IMDB, see how many of their films you've seen). Oh, and if we have a midget, can it be Verne Troyer (?) aka Mini-Me!

I -did- see one guy get killed on the A-Team. Shotgun blast at short range. It was the bad guy, of course. I remember being stunned. "Hey! That's not supposed to happen on this show!"
