As many of you know, liberals hate big corporate america, big companies, health insurance companies, ect...

Can they not see that Obama is going to make them just that much richer. Did anyone watch the healthcare stocks after Obama's speech? They went up! and it makes perfect sense...

If he is going to mandate everyone have health insurance and then fine the ones that don't get it. If I was the owner of Cigna or Blu Cross, ect. Obama would be my best friend in an 'immoral sense'. How come no one throwing this in government's face? I'm sure many of you already see this but I am not hearing anything about it in the media or news. No one is bringing it up at town halls and protests either...

In the long term, it will be bad for them. With a public option available, over time, many will switch to it. Afterall, it will likely be superior to a lot of what's being sold today. I myself would switch...most likely.

Best case scenario...they stay in business, but have to drop rates, and provide more coverage to compete with the public option.

But it sounds like the public option is dead for now...

You are correct. Obamacare is the health insurance company bailout bill, and the reason why neither the left nor right like the bill under consideration.

Health insurance companies will be subbed out to perform government healthcare or whatever HC is decided upon.

Business seems to like these large and bloated contracts as it seems like guaranteed cash flow.

The Public option will be far superior to the existing insurance companies and have better controls on the payments to providers. Current companies allow for things like block billing where a provider bills for a battery of tests and is only required to have conducted one of them. BCBS for example says it streamlines billing and payments because they don't have to code for thousands of variations on a procedure but the provider makes out on it. In addition the lab bills for the same thing the physician does also. The public option would get a rush of consumers switching to it because of the price vs the larger existing companies and they would be forced to adapt their practices or close up shop. Its simply manipulating the market to provide a better slicker product to the consumer.

Look at it like Toyota and Honda entering the US marketplace and producing automobiles at lower cost and higher quality than the domestic brand which failed to adapt to a changed market. We all know how that story ended. The Fed has not suggested owning any hospitals or clinics and has not said that thy will mandate what a providers will charge. They have not set a mandate that you as a consumer will use their product but have stated that they are going to required that all children in this nation be insured. Hell I support it and challenge anyone to look up the definition of socialism and tell me how this fits into it. Its an option to the public, no means of manufacture, production , or distribution are owned by the government. Salaries are not dictated by the govt. Basically if its a messed up product the current administration looks so foolish that they wont get re elected for at least a decade.

The GOP has outright refused to offer up any plan close to addressing the problem and has decided to only oppose things based on party lines instead of actually trying to fix the problem. Its like standing there with a blown piston and crank shaft and having a mechanic say it needs a new engine and another one saying nope! The car is still broken if ya just say nope.

In know the goal is to get in to office , not actually do anything once your there. just hold office and fill you own pockets while you there right? I wont support teh get in and do nothing mentality on our elected politicians ay longer.

The GOP has offered several bills that actually made sense. Why not small improvements instead of a complete overhaul? My god if we have $500,000,000 waste in the medicaid/medicare, then lets stop that first instead of giving them more money?
