I have a few stupid questions about how game refuge's operate. If I am correct you can go there work your dog and shoot as many birds as you pay for, and you do not need a hunting license and you don't have to be in season. Do you need typically need to make an appointment to come out or do you just show up? Are you given a time limit on how long you can be out there? Anything that a newbie should know before heading out? And most importantly, where can I find a listing of some in my area? I cant find anything on the internet or in the phone book. I must be searching for the wrong thing, so any help pointing me in the right direction would be great. Thanks.

I think of a "game refuge" and "game preserve" as the same thing, you know, a place where a game goes to take refuge. Maybe try looking for "hunting farms" or "game farms?" Have you checked with any local shotgun shops or gun clubs? Maybe you can find a lead that way. My ex's cousin and her husband have one, and I think the literature I saw last fall is they wanted reservations made.

i have shot at a preserve once. i would never pay for something like that, but it was on hte tab of a rich doctor, so i had no problem with that part. good trainin for my dog, but i dont take it for any more than that. i dont call it hunting either. its sport shooting imo.
