So, yeah. Mrs. N and I were on our way home from Montone today, taking totally back roads. Happened upon what can only happen upon in the country: the 'ole sells fireworks, beer, local meats and veggies, bullets and crossbows gas station. Naturally, we stop in. Here' what we left with:

A *perfectly* dry aged piece of T-Bone. From the texture and smell, I obtained this monster within HOURS of "crossing the line". Those who like real aged beef know what I have. Those that don't understand it, PEARLS BEFORE SWINE!

Here's a quarter beside it for sizing purposes:

And a couple of Rib-eyes for may ladies, just as big and thick, they are!

And the Holy Trinity....

Getting ready to go on HERE!

Oh yeah, I also got some Hot Souse Meat, YOM!

I'll be back later, folks.....

TCN seems to know his stuff, but I am not in the know, so I agree with this statement.

Educate me?

My 5 year old just walked up and looked at the pics and asked if they were dinosaur feet.

In for food poisoning update

Normally folks tell you that you dry age beef before it's cut into steaks, so that you can cut off all the moldy and rotten parts.

Nothing is more honest than a 5yo's opinion.

Yep!

Dry aged rocks! No one really knows what it looks like before it's cleaned up and cooked though...
Link Posted: 9/25/2011 3:16:16 PM EST
Meat is not aged in the cut. It is aged in the whole, side, or quarter.

You didn't buy anything fancy. You just bought a rotten piece of meat.

I'd pass

This. I hope the OP trimmed the salmonella off his meat.

I'm all about dry aged beef but I dunno about getting at a gas station....hope its good though! From the looks of it it'll either be amazing or rank.

Seeing this, coming from the manager of an Applebees...

Just disturbs the fuck outta me.

I must not understand.....but it's odd that you'd call us swine, when *you* are the one about to eat rotten meat.

Link Posted: 9/25/2011 3:18:40 PM EST
I hope he knows your supposed to trim it before cooking ? surely he knows? Right
Link Posted: 9/25/2011 3:18:51 PM EST
I've eaten a lot of good steak in my time. None of them looked like that.

whole pictures he posted have a slight green tint..

the meat itself is fine.

I personally don't eat green steaks, but if say it's good, then I believe you.

I know restaraunts serve aged beef, but I thought it was aged at like 33 degrees and never imagined them to look like that.

I thought dry aged beef was dried in whole pieces, not cuts.

That looks like rotten meat to me.

But hey,I'm not from Alabama so maybe that's like a delicacy or something in your part of the country.

I normally like my steak medium rare. That one there, I'd cook it longer before it was served.
Link Posted: 9/25/2011 3:49:03 PM EST
Hahaha I think the OP is fucking with everyone that is just a rotten piece of meat you wouldn't dry age it like that.
Link Posted: 9/25/2011 3:49:07 PM EST
If i eat something like that it is going to be at an expensive LA or NYC steak house, so I can sue deep pockets when i get sick
