Voted no, and posted this on their message board in a reply to a supposed "pro-gun" guy who says they should be banned:
Capt. Jerkoff: "I'm against the ban on all weapons. A citizen has the right to defend his home. But, I'm for the ban on semi-auto assualt weapons. Police should not be outgunned." My reply: Yes, let's ban them. Remember, drugs are banned, but they still are obtained, which just proves that no matter what's illegal, criminals will still obtain them. Keep in mind that, as mentioned by a lot of others, police have access to several FULLY automatic weapons. Outgunned? Semi-automatic? Sorry, bud. Think with your head. My main weapons for target shooting are "assault" weapons. AR-15's (Bushmaster's and one Colt) and guess what, I haven't killed anyone or committed any hanus crime. A shotgun is more lethal than an assault weapon. Keep in mind that the number of firearms related crimes committed with assault weapons is less than 2%. Trust me, more damage could be done by a nut-job in a pickup. Keep in mind, the beltway assassin used a single shot, so high capacity magazines had nothing to do with it, semi-automatic had nothing to do with it, he could have done the same thing with your typical hunting rifle. When they start segregating classes of firearms to ban is when they start eroding our rights piece by piece. Illinois is trying to ban anything over .50 Cal, guess what... 12ga shotguns are over .50 cal and are included in that ban. Let them gain momentum and everyone's precious hunting rifles and shotguns are gone, too. Just because you yourself may not enjoy the particular rifle or weapon doesn't mean others don't. If you want them to support you if your particular type of firearm comes under fire, you better be supporting them. Always remember, CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY THE LAW, THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM CRIMINALS. So do you really believe if we pass some more laws they'll start obeying them and ignore the black market for those weapons while we, the law abiding, are supposed to obey rediculous laws? If you answered yes, you are a total moron. I've never understood why we pass laws because we can't trust our LAW ABIDING citizens to own a certain firearm, yet we pass these laws because we can trust our CRIMINALS who have already broken the law to obey these new laws. It sure doesn't make sense to me, but hell, I'm just a 20 year old 4.00 GPA college student with a 156 I.Q. I don't know a damn thing about the situation. *cough* COMMON SENSE, PEOPLE! Keep in mind, most of the public knows VERY little about assault weapons. The very name is deceiving, they sound more lethal than they really are. Nobody really explains that they're criticized by the militaries of the world for lack of power, nobody explains that they are used in less than 1% of firearms crimes, nobody explains what they even are. So the public stays ignorant, thinking that banning will help make them safer.

"Keep in mind, most of the public knows VERY little about assault weapons."
And did you notice the pictured firearms at the vote site? They keep saying, "We want to keep Uzi's and AK's off the streets." But their proposed laws go far beyond that. But who ever said civilians should only own weapons for "sporting purposes"? That was a concept of the Nazis. But also, after WWII, when our people begain to get back on their feet financially, many thousands of foreign military surplus, and some U.S. military surplus firearms came on the market. The U.S. was flooded with gazillions of foreign made guns... and it was really pissing off the SAAMI members. So, they were all behind legislation to ban or at least reduce the numbers of "non-sporting purposes" imports. And that continues to be their reason for support of such laws and regulations. It has nothing to do with anything but their bottom line. We understand this from Bill Ruger's actions in the magazine ban. We need to kick butts every time the "sporting purposes" thing is mentioned, and loudly proclaim our right to weapons "ideally suited to homeland defense". |
