Scan it daily! With Norton anti-virus.

What was the addy used?

BTW, have I ever e-mailed you?

I know I don't have your e-mail address in my Address Book, and isn't that usually the way a virus is sent?

Well, I got the very same e-mail from DPeacher on my AOL e-mail account!

I ran Norton anti-virus again, it came up nada!

But I haven't downloaded the file that was sent from the 'DPeacher' address.

Thanks aimless, I just wanted to give Eric a heads up vis-a-vis scanning for viruses if he wasn't already, sounds like he is though .

It is VERY easy to forge e-mail addresses.

I have done so on occassion (forged an email addy...)

Sorry someone used my name and address on that!

But as I said, I've got a download called 'border' waiting to be opened on my AOL account that purports to be from DPeacher.

I know just enough about computers to sign onto this Board and that's about it!

I always thought that the way viruses worked was that they got into your e-mail address book and began sending out more viruses to all your e-mail contacts!

But with the number of trolls and DU assassins running around here lately, it wouldn't surprise me if we were under attack!

Hey I got the same thing, my best advice is to never open attachments unless you talk to the person and they say then sent you or are going to send you an e-mail containing an attachment. This advice has saved my ass more than once.

Eric, now that we know a little of what is going on, and you have been notified, feel free to kill this thread.

Just do me a favor, don't open up *any* attachemnts, unless you verify them with the sender first.

Thanks, hielo! I promise I won't open any attachments even if Britney Spears herself sends them to me![:D]

I'll leave the thread up for a while, though, cause look at the most recent posts complaining of the same thing!

Just scanning the computer for viruses doesn't quite do it, you have to keep the anti-virus software updated, too.

Open it, look for the Live Update button (or something similar) and get the newest virus definitions.

Here is the attachment file name and address I just this virus alert from;

From: audi
To: [email protected]
Subject: Eager to see you

This may or may not be related to the recent spate of infections here.

My isp virus program caught it and alerted me before it got to me. I think they run Macafee and I run Norton so I should catch most everything before it causes me troubles.

I guess the alert name it the Virus: W32/Klez.h@MM

I just had a thought.  If we could just identify the culprits that create these email viruses, I would say let's give them suicide bomber training and ship them to an Islamic country.  This would make use of scum for a good cause.

My wife and I have both gotten the Klez virus (or whatever it's called) on our computers this week.

I just installed Norton Anti-Virus and got all the updates. When I ran it, it found a virus in the system that it cannot remove. It isolated it until I can "deal with it".

Normally all our e-mails run through my wife's computer, and her Norton software eliminates this stuff. She updates her Norton constantly, but it did not help this time.

I did not open any e-mails on my computer. I just accidentally hit the email button this morning, and by the time I was able to shut down the e-mail program, it had downloaded a couple e-mails to my computer. I didn't open them to read them. I just brought up the e-mail program this evening to delete whatever was there and then installed Norton.

Aparently you don't have to open these to get infected. Just downloading them does it. We have been getting three or four of these every day all week. I'm guessing a lot of people have been.

If you have Outlook Express it might run the program automatically. Not Sure as I have all my programs set to ask before downloading anything.

I remember when the I Love You virus came out that people in virii forums were coming up with ways to embed it into web pages, which isn't real hard considering it was a VBScript.

"Chernobyl" virus warning went through my firm today, supposedly it was created by a Turk and a Jap and just released this week.  Or atleast something like that.  No known cures and no known scans that can find it.  It supposedly wipes out your HD and makes you cry uncontrollably when your 30 gigs of porn goes down the shitter.  That's all I know.

Here is all you want to know about the virus.

This includes a link to a removal tool and updates to prevent it

Appearantly this one can attemt to disable some Anti-virus software and execute simply by viewing the e-mail!!

It's got to be somebody like(banallguns)or such, that got flamed by most everybody here.

Then simply went to the header and got the e-mail addresses of those he wanted to infect,I am still going to leave my header up,but we all need to get norton or something that will not auto  open your mail(outlook express) .ect..

Somebody will get his post and trace it back, then we will know what to do.

I know that some people will not get the virus until the next time they open their email.  So it could start all over.... respreading.
