I don't blame the guy for making some money at the expense of the ATF (hopefully he gouged them), as ridiculous as those Leathermans are...

Actually he did it cheap at $18 a leathernman.

Look at the price awarded and number of leatherman's. Bet he's a retired ATF officer himself.

$18?

ATF's "war on the streets" is at your front door.  Just give em probable cause and your dog is dead, regardless is you are guilty or not.

Due to this policy of ATF, don't think Cavalry Arms will git their stuff back.

They likely already handed out the Leatherman's to the JBT's that hauled in the booty for ATF.

ATF's mission in "asset forfeiture" of FFL's property is not to sell it for a profit.

ATF was removed from the Treasury Dept by President Bush, they no longer exist to make the Fed's money.

They exist to get American's property....just look at the Leatherman's they just ordered and it's engraving.

Since the ATF purchased these with public monies, I think that a quick note to the congressman and senator of every person who is offended by this might be in order.

This is thoroughly innapropriate behavior from a public agency.  Whoever authorized it needs to lose their job, and the contract needs to be canceled.

They estimated about 1000 guns. Given an guesstimated avg. value of $700 (Some just being $200 lowers and others being expensive stuff like m60's and whatever those commie beltfeds are called) well the math says $700,000. So even if that is a high estimate, probably at least $400,000.

Glad I never bought one. I have had an original Gerber Multiplier that's now about 12 years old. I still use it all the time, and have added another more modern one to my BOB.

Anyway, I'm not surprised. I've been doing taxes today, and it's disgusting to think that part of the tens of thousands of dollars my wife and I are being fucked out of goes to pay for shit like this.

The following letter will be mailed tomorrow

Honorable Senator _______

I write to express my concern over the enclosed solicitation by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms for the purchase of a quantity of Letterman Multi Tools.

What is troubling about this purchase it that ATF requests that the tools be engraved with the Words “Asset Forfeiture” and “always think forfeiture”

As a gun owner, constantly worried about complying with the thousands of federal gun laws, I find it troubling that the federal agency tasked with enforcing those laws displays this mentality.  I feel like ATF is looking for excuses to take the property of honest Americans.

This agency has been known for abuses in the past and this behavior is extremely worrisome.

I would truly appreciate you looking into this solicitation and expressing your concerns to ATF.

Thank you

inkaybee
