The article is well written. It has absolutely no political or anti-USA slant to it. The article describes the ATF's problems from the link above. What was interesting though is that an anonymous ATF agent spoke with El Diaro (the newspaper) and said the following:
"Estados Unidos nunca va cambiar su postura actual sobre el derecho que tienen los ciudadanos a poseer un arma, pero tiene una responsabilidad de evitar el tráfico de armamento interestatal e internacional”, dijo un empleado de ATF a El Diario de El Paso, quien pidió no se publicara su nombre, experiencia ni cargo dentro de la dependencia federal por temor a represalias.
The United States is never going to change its actual position about the rights that citizens have to posses firearms, but it has a responsibility to avoid/stop interstate and international arms trafficking.
The article basically lays out the fact that ATF is screwing the Mexican people/government... it seems that if this article spreads, the USA and the ATF will lose a lot of credibility in the eyes of the lawabiding mexican people.
One other interesting thing from the article is that it is estimated that 800.000 firearms enter mexico illegally each year. (obviously the majority comes from the US according to the NY times)
