Also some commentary on the Shotgun study at the link.

FWIW....

http://www.sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/

One of the ATF sources involved with “Project Gunwalker” (allegations by insiders from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that bureau management allowed guns to be transported across the border into Mexico and kept the authorities there in the dark) indicates management pressure is now being brought to bear against at least one suspected whistleblower.

I am told that an agent in Phoenix has gone on record that he is cooperating with the Judiciary Committee, that the ATF office there is retaliating, and that he needs help. I am told the best way to provide that help is for the media to call Grassley’s office and then run with what they are told.

I am told Sen. Grassley’s office has sent a letter to the acting ATF Director’s office and that the Associated Press has a copy of it—so that’s a question for reporters to ask Grassley’s people, as well as their AP colleagues.

I'd say it has a 98% chance of being legitimate and a 2% chance of ever being touched by the MSM.

Seems to match up with that account from that one gun store who contacted the BATFE about certain customers and what the BATFE told them to do.

The article is well written. It has absolutely no political or anti-USA slant to it. The article describes the ATF's problems from the link above. What was interesting though is that an anonymous ATF agent spoke with El Diaro (the newspaper) and said the following:

"Estados Unidos nunca va cambiar su postura actual sobre el derecho que tienen los ciudadanos a poseer un arma, pero tiene una responsabilidad de evitar el tráfico de armamento interestatal e internacional”, dijo un empleado de ATF a El Diario de El Paso, quien pidió no se publicara su nombre, experiencia ni cargo dentro de la dependencia federal por temor a represalias.

The United States is never going to change its actual position about the rights that citizens have to posses firearms, but it has a responsibility to avoid/stop interstate and international arms trafficking.

The article basically lays out the fact that ATF is screwing the Mexican people/government... it seems that if this article spreads, the USA and the ATF will lose a lot of credibility in the eyes of the lawabiding mexican people.

One other interesting thing from the article is that it is estimated that 800.000 firearms enter mexico illegally each year. (obviously the majority comes from the US according to the NY times)
