Police Search For Gun Store Robbers

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- Police are searching for two thieves who stole several high-powered rifles from a gun store in Union County.

Police released a surveillance video from Assault Technologies in Indian Trail.

According to police, two thieves broke into the store Monday and took eight guns, including an AR-15 -- the civilian version of an M-16.

Union County Sheriff's Deputy Brian Helms said that police officers do not have bulletproof vests that can protect them from that kind of weapon. He said a high-powered assault rifle is very threatening.

The owner of Assault Technologies said things could have been worse. He said they had removed several guns from the store to go to a gun show. If they had not been at the show, the burglars could have gotten away with several more weapons.

No shit, (most LEO) vests are made for handgun rounds, and even then not for all of them.

Assault Technologies ...like it's not enough to give the anti's more ammunition to use against us, they have to go a head and even, NAME, their store so the anti's can say..."see they want to assualt us!".

assault technologies? dang! I have seen their table many times at the local gun show. They have some very very fine looking evil black weapons. Thats a real shame.

Wasn't the AR-15 developed first and then adapted to full auto for the military afterwards?

Not really. The original AR15 was something like .30 cal developed for the Air Force IIRC.

And I think it is generally correct to say "civilian version" of the M-16. Better than saying "M16 machine gun" when it was really an AR-15.

yes we have refugees  up here but they our down in charlotte or up towards raleigh. no wear near there i think.

I live 1/4 mile down the road from these guys.  Usually staffed by two kids no older than 22 each with very high prices.  Most likely they paid someone to steal them so they could claim the insurance on them .  This is indicative of these folks...
