That plane was almost sold to a buyer from Germany, but  I heard they backed out.  I hope it stays here in the states.

One of my relatives was one of the Doolittle Raiders and would make this even more special.

By the way, there is no ball turret so you could go top turret

Where did you get that from?   It's highly doubtful, unless your "Takeoff" includes a climb to cruise altitude.  



The direct operating cost seems to be in the neighborhood of $1000-$1500 per hour, which is the same as a small corporate jet.

I don't think so.  It's been based at the same airport for at least the last five years that I know of.  Unless of course the new owners kept it there.
