Help if you can.

I need ideas on cool little promo gadgets that sit on a desk that has a company logo on it.  Needs to be something cool that hopefully the person will leave on their desk and not throw away.

The price range would be 5-8 dollars.

Any ideas?

Most of that shit is junky. No one gives a fuck about it after they get it off your event table and into their goodie-bag.

Things I have seen handed out at event's that are worthwhile:
1) Blaze orange bottle coozie w/zipper. These worked great because after about an hour everyone was walking around with a beer in a bright orange bottle coozie with the company logo on it. Option: Include a beer in the coozie.

2) Cigar Roller. Opus hired a guy to roll cigars on-site and stick a little Opus logo band around them. Everyone likes cigars :)

3) A bucket. I was handed the best damn pail I have ever used at a company showcase. The company made buckets, if I ever need to buy a new one, it will be of this brand. It is solid as fuck.

Golf balls are always good but I wouldn't go super cheap-o with them because that just looks bad...so I guess that's not a good suggestion then.

I have a Hoppe's 9 mug on my desk.

The shooters in the office understand what it is.

ETA: the coolest promotional gadget I have is a combination borelight and laser pointer from PRI Mounts that we picked up at a SHOT show.

I have LaRue dillos coming out the wazoo.

I also really like coozees... got a shit ton from about a dozen different industries.  Same for ball caps.

Got a couple wall calanders... one for the office, one for the home office.

Lots of pens... NOTE... it PISSES ME OFF if a pen won't write for shit... buy quality or your brand will be assosciated as shit.

Probably the most original, and nicest piece of logo'd schwag I have is a leather paperweight embosed with the company logo.

I always thought post-it notes are a good idea. Especially if they are unique in some way.

I got a really small swiss army knife with a company logo on it that just rocks! Best handout ever.

I also like the rubik's cube that has a company's logo and pics on it. Everybody that comes to my office picks it up and says it's cool.

USB drives are cool too.

i second the guy who said quality pens.
nothing like have thousands of pens on hand that have your logo on them. and over 80% dont work
and a nice company you have done business with for years telling you tough luck buddy thanks for your previous business though.

if I could find them I would get them. I have on my desk a leather coaster thats probably 10+ years old.
works great, still has the company logo on it.

at around $5 bucks a pop you must be dealing with higher profits from each customer...
we used to have mugs, shirts, bags, assorted kid toys, you name it we had it with out logo on it.
now we just stick to calendars.

What about the Staples "Easy Button"?  Instead of saying "Easy" it can say "Fo".

A post-it pad glued to a miniature wooden pallet. The fact that someone sat there and assembled who-knows-how-many of these 3"x3" pallets with real nails is amazing.
