I found the user reviews for this movie and I was disgusted. I left my feedback and I encourage you to slam this piece of shit movie and dissuade others from seeing it. I think it would be most effective to just say how UNFUNNY it was, rather than rant like I did. Please take the time to sign up if you're not a yahoo member since this could hurt the box office revenue. REMEMBER - UNFUNNY and an insult to our constitution and rights as americans. Oh yeah, you'll see where you can click next to the User Rating it says "Write a Review" PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO DO THIS. Any other movie review sites we can hit so this doesn't go into national box offices?

Here's my review: Mr. Moore's movie is a brilliant hatchet job, and so I am not surprised many of the media elite are coming away with a one sided view of guns and their owners, as Mr. Moore intended. As fully expected, Mr. Moore will never tell you about some things that contradict his movie. For example, Moore filmed what he calls a National Rifle Association rally in Denver after two students gunned down classmates at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., and he filmed parents' disgust with the NRA's presence. Mr. Moore will not tell you that: a) The National Rifle Association scheduled its annual national convention in the city of Denver four years prior to Columbine. b) The convention includes a huge gun and trade show that draws between 30,000 - 50,000 visitors every year. c) The City of Denver bid for the business when the NRA was choosing a venue. d) Harris and Klebold murdered their classmates less than a week before the NRA's convention was due to begin. e) The NRA canceled the gun and trade show portion of its convention out of sympathy for the Columbine victims, thus canceling the plans of tens of thousand of visitors, even though they had nothing to do with Harris and Klebold's actions. f) The NRA was required by the law of New York State (where it is incorporated) to still conduct its annual meeting, or risk violating the terms of its charter. g) The NRA conducted only the bare minimum of its meetings necessary to stay in compliance with the law, and it then left. I can say all this because I lived in Salt Lake City at the time and was planning to attend the NRA convention. A somewhat different version of events from Mr. Moore, no?

Does an unrated review or a 1 star review bring the total down? BigDozer66
Link Posted: 10/25/2002 8:54:18 AM EST
I would vote with a 1-star. A no-star vote might not change the average.
Link Posted: 10/25/2002 9:04:20 AM EST
I'm surprised so few people are doing this, yet we've taken the rating down from 4/5 stars to 3.8/5 stars. PLEASE DO THIS, I know a lot of people that look to the Yahoo ratings and other ratings sites for distrust of the "official" commentaries by the newspapers. Remember they called Black Hawk Down a racist movie?! User reviews turned that "racist" shit into a good movie review for those who chose to see.

Seems there may be a problem accessing the review section. Too much traffic? Damn, I wrote a dandy of a review. [bounce]
Link Posted: 10/25/2002 9:43:50 AM EST
No offense, but how can you guys write a review of a film you haven't seen? If you did happen to see it, why would you? Ignore Moore and he will go away.
Link Posted: 10/25/2002 9:50:06 AM EST
Done. Although I haven't seen this piece of cinematic crap (and don't intend to), I thought it important to represent the opinions of those I know who live near C.H.S. I live about 9 miles north of Columbine, but I have several friends who live in the neighborhood just across Pierce St. from the school. None of them intend to see it, either. And they all think that Moore is a corn-fed, bloated piece of useless whale shit, too.

My "review." UNFUNNY from the Stupidest White Man This type of humor is sick. There is nothing funny or cool or thoughtful from exploiting this tragedy just to make a few bucks, or get "noticed." There is no message here, just a bunch of self serving leftist political clap trap and very bad satire in extremely poor taste. I hope the families sue. Rating - 1 star (it should have an option of no stars) BTW, when I tried to read the readers reviews, I recieved a "sorry, can't find the requested webpage" page. Gee, I wonder why? Do you think yahoo hasn't the guts to display what people think, or is it a typical yahoo screw up?

Roger Ebert and that other guy gave the movie THUMBS UP.

Done. "Why would anyone pay money to see this trash? It is an embbarrasment that it was released, and a credit to the First Amendment that this kind of tripe can be excreted and foisted off on the ticket buying public. It is a sick movie and a disgrace to our society. Mr Moore is blatently Un-American, and I do beleive that anyone who sees this movie has some mental problems of their own. If you feel the need to see this movie, why not just take the 8 dollars, roll it into a tube and jam it into your eye socket. In the end, you would be doing yourself a favor, and you would also not give Mr. Moore your hard earned AMERICAN dollars."

Not the movie but the reviewers #2 by: proudleftandgreen (38/M/San Jose, CA) 10/25/02 05:32 pm rating: unrated Yes the other reviews are interesting reading. More importantly, I counted 16 postings all slamming the film posted within 2 minutes of each other. I sincerely doubt that any of them saw the film, and probably just got some directive from the NRA to spam any sites reviewing this film. Nice work, dittoheads! Whats even sadder is the total inability to exercise rational discourse from these extremists. All citing the constitution, blah blah blah. That was written a long time ago for a very different set of circumstances that are simply not relevant today. I really worry for the character of this country when we seem to have more and more of these morons spewing their venom down every media channel available. Their independent analysis or thought is utterly lacking. Dittoheads, get a clue.

Don't know exactly how this fits in but today while flipping the dial on FM, I caught the tail end of a review of Bowling For Columbine on National Public (Socialist) Radio's "All Things Considered" and the speaker SLAMMED both the movie and Michael Moore for his behavior to Charlton Heston too. The moderator on ATC agreed with the reviewer. I was pleasantly surprised.

done. i posted as a greenie calling Moore a dumbass Hollywood elitist hijacking liberal causes for his own gain.

Holy shit, the POS is playing at two local theaters here in the burbs. Someone definitely has their head up their ass around here. Maybe I'll picket it, black rifle in hand. That will get me 15 minutes of fame for sure. Better yet, maybe I'll put NRA membership applications under everyone's windshield wiper blades, hmm....

I do not in any way take Moore's side and I have not seen the movie, however, I understand he takes a crack at the media, too. I picked this up in a recent issue of "Time:"
He blames TV news for creating a climate of unjustified fear (reports of killings have risen 600%, he says, while the murder rate has decreased 20%) and the Executive Branch for an us-vs.-them foreign policy.

here's mine
This movie sickens me in it's shameless attempt to make MONEY. Making a profit from the suffering of those children at Columbine is the most repugnant act of Moore yet. This feculent attempt at a movie should be avoided. F@*K you Michael Moore you impious bastard!

I think before you vote go see it. I am going to even if it puts money into the hands of anti's. I have seen reviews and most likely give it a bad rate. Not only because it is against guns, but because of the cinematic abilities of the director. Then again I can be wrong.

Go over there and read the reviews... It'll make your day! Very very funny!

ET Entertainment Tonight, a popular media promotional show did a segment on Bowling for Columbine. It was not very flattering for Moore, who refused to come on camera to answer charges that he was aggressive and antagonistic towards Heston in the film. My only disappointment was that the show put on the film clip that Moore sent then in lieu of his appearance. I think there is plenty of disappointment with his behavior. The less publicity for this the better.

The only reason that thing is getting anywhere is because it's popular in Europe and winning awards over there. And that's only because it reinforces the prejudicial beliefs the Europeans have in regards to the US. FUCK THAT FAT PIECE OF SHIT. HE'S THE EMBODIMENT OF EVERYTHING VILE AND CONTEMPTUOUS IN MODERN DAY LIBERALISM.
