And yes im that asshole in a BMW going 20mph on the highway. Well I was.

If only there existed a way to know that snow and ice would be falling soon.

May not help in ice. I remember back in the early '90s, driving to work in upstate NY, after an ice storm. All roads were black ice. My 4WD Toyota pickup could make about 25MPH if I kept one wheel off the road, in the ice covered snow bank. My 40 min drive took over 2hrs, but I made it.

Suck it up. We here in the south drive in Southern Ice without the aid of snow or ice tires.

Had a 2000 z3 myself. Surprisingly, it wasn't horrible in snow. As long as no snow drifts. Ice... well that sucked.

I checked the weather report this am and the high today was going to be 37 with no ice and rain tomorrow. It changed at work.

My MPSS are resting comfortably waiting to go back on the car in the spring.

Blizzaks won't do shit on ice.

If the coefficient of friction is near zero, nothing matters.

Physics always wins.

ETA: Are studded tires legal in MO?

Wife just sild going 20mph in a 2016 kia sorrento sideways into a curb

Summer tires do ok around here in ice on top of chip-seal roads. I think the uneven surface helps with traction.

Not when there is 2+ inches of ice. I miss the open roads of west texas

Been there. I got caught in a freak snowstorm driving home, across country, in my STi. When they warn you that Bridgestone RE070's have zero winter traction, they aren't lying. Luckily, we made it home unscathed and the car slept quietly in my garage until spring.

Not entirely true. Tirerack does an ice test on an ice rink and Blizzaks definitely stop the car better than all season tires. It's all about the sipes.

Im running 4 x 305/30 R19 on all 4 corners MPSS on my ride.  Even at 110 deg here it feels like im on ice.  1540hp will do that though

Shit, I can't stand my skateboard wheels (what my MPSS feel like at below 45degF) and I can't imagine what they are like on snow and ice. My daily is wearing WS80s right now.

Saw 4 flakes of snow earlier this week. Parked the Corvette and broke out the AWD Trailblazer SS

My Blizzak DMV1s do fine on ice, but I also studded my Firestone MTs for mountain use.

Home safe and sound. In the 3 miles from the tire shop to home there were 3 crashes. 1 was a 4 car pile up, 1 shut down a exit ramp and the last one just about blocked my road

I have to put my Blizzaks on tomorrow.

Summer tires in ice and snow. Were you expecting to get any traction? Magical traction?

there's a reason why they're called summer tires

I left a few minutes ago and the neighborhood streets were OK. I turned onto the north 364 service road in St. Charles and it was a skating rink. Cars off the road everywhere. I went around the block, very carefully, and came home.

When I watched the weather forecast this morning, we weren't supposed to get this shit til tomorrow night.

364 was a parking lot.
