Saw a nice looking Plumb stocked AK-74 that looked as if was a bulgarian kit put together and refinished. Fit and finish was remarkable, but yes it was a Vulcan. I know that Hesse was junk in the past but what is the status on the new Vulcan 74s? Please don't ban me for asking.

Vulcan Arms must be good, because on their webpage it says that they make the machineguns for the Special Forces whoa re fighting in Afghanistan !!

The ex Navy Seal who sells jerky at the gun show told me that before he quit the Seals because they were a bunch of chicken shits, that they had all been Issued Vulcan built guns.

So now I buy ONLY from Vulcan. |

I have enough experience to know that there are enough alternatives out there at the same price, to never have to take a risk with Vulcan/Hexxe. Edited to add: You mean that guy really wasn't the door gunner on the space shuttle? Are you sure he never killed three NVA regular divisions by himself in one day? I thought he really was supposed to get a MOH for it, but they lost his paperwork. |

Was it a Vulcan rifle or a build done by a competent smith a Vulcan/Hesse receiver? Before you guys go running off at the mouth, do a little research. Hesse/Vulcan rifles = crap, their AK receiver is actually very good and more authentic in design than OOW/ITM.

Wonder if he is friends with the handyman who put my computer desk together - he worked with MACV SOG and the CIA shooting Charlie from his sniper hide with help from the Men in black........I really shouldn't make fun - he may have been truthful - but it sounded way too off the wall to me...............And most people don't tell every stranger they meet their specops life story. I just found it odd.

like hr said, the vulcan receivers aren't bad...but, their assembly quality is usually lacking and their customer service is so bad it has become the stuff of legend.
buy your bulgarian ak74 from ohio rapid fire. the service what they sell and their warranty is backed up by honest, hard-working guys that support this board. |

You are absolutly correct about the Vulcan recievers being very good, they are. However I would not trust most people who were selling one at a guns show, it may be a msterpiiece, or it may be a Vulcan shitbox they are trying to dump. At the price point of the Vulcan guns, there are to many better alternatives. |

i think you're getting them confused with speshul weapons. i saw a hesse AK a few months ago and the finish was very nice..waaay nicer than the finish on my SAR1. the stock set wasn't as nice as my kvar set though. |

I have never, ever, heard anything good about Hesse or Vulcan. But I have read plenty of bad things about them. I would not want to risk spending hard-earned gun-money on the chance that I might get the odd "good" gun from these people. Like Lightening_P38 said, there are enough alternatives out there to buy from that have better track records.
