A different chat site [red] www.TrueCombat.com [/red]has some threads running where AK's VS M16's are debated. (yes, they are video game sites)
I come down on the side of the M16, but here are the arguments.

1.  The AK47 is more reliable
2.  The 7.62 round is better for automatic fire
3.  The 5.56 round is weak
4.  The M16 magazines are not as strong

I have tried to refute each one of these, but since I am on a video game site, hardly anyone else knows what they are talking about.

My points:

1.  M16 is more accurate
2.  Modern M16s are more reliable
3.  5.56 round is very deadly, esp. in vitals
4.  Better ammo carrying capacity
5.  Most combat takes place at 400yds or less

I want to show these nincompoops that just because Ice Cube "didn't have to use his AK", doesn't mean they are the best.

Well, I just left quite a reply on their site in hopes of giving them an education. Wonder what responses it'll get, if they even take the time to read it.

The real question is which one is more effective on eagles . . .

What's better, Colt or Hesse...?

If I wrote a video game I would make the AR15/M16 a much better weapon than the AK47.  Would that change anything in the real world?

Hey Hoople, is that as in "Mott the Hoople?"

Never actually said ARs are better. I was hoping to clear up some of that misinformation they were spewing. Did you see the post about the M16 being a 7.62? I HOPE he was refering to the AR-10. I will post Part two later which will give more praise to the AK.

Soldier vs Soldier

[:)]

depends upon who's behind the trigger and how much experience they have had with their respective weapon systems.

since video games do not use ballistics in their engines even a 9mm shots as far as you can see on screen.

Thanks Bryan aka M16Man,
I read your post, and it validated nearly everything I had argued.  I suspected that the AK round in 7.62 differed from other 7.62 cartriges, but I was not sure.  I couldn't believe that they were trying to say that the 7.62 was the original M16 round!!!
Oh well.  I, WussyBoy, will continue to play their game, (which is pretty fun) and monitor their posts.  It is kinda fun arguing with internationals about the M16, as most know nothing about it.

It will be interesting to see the 2nd half, and all the replies.

Doesn't matter which is "better".  I wouldn't want to be standing down range with someone shooting EITHER one.

But...if I had too, I would rather it be the less accurate AK.

The thread on truecombat.com thread seems to be the most popular on there now. How many of you have posted to the thread?

I started both threads and have been following the chit-chat.  Very interesting.  Thanks to all the AR15.com members for their input.

here is the original thread: http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Eq3t/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=439&forum=2&25

Here is the current thread: http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Eq3t/forum/viewtopic.php?topic=468&forum=2&46

Seems like we have struck upon a topic of interest. [8D]

The ergonomics of the M16 give a considerable advantage early in a firefight. As most encounters in modern warfare are relatively brief, involving rapid expenditure of firepower, this advantage cannot be overstated.

This really doesn't support an argument for the AK-47 but, from experience, the AK-47 with it's stock burnt off, will still work fine.

The AK-74 beats them BOTH!!!!!

The AK-47 is sloppy gun made for farmers and peasants.
Not accurate
Not modular
Ammo is to heavy
Ugly

You know all the stuff that you want in a rifle
And all this 7.62X39 crap makes me sick even the Russians don't use that stuff now.

Any one that says Ak-47 is the better gun is trying to be controversial or they're ignorant.

Well the AK is simple and works every time.  I realy like the AK, it is accurit enough, but i like the AR, it is alot more comfterble and i like the A2 sights.

eveybody is entitled to an opinion.

the Galil, Valmet and the SAKO M-90 are not sloppy nor are they inaccurate. the above rifles even have peep sights. the weight of the ammo depends upon caliber. as far as the weapon being for peasants and farmers would you also say that the M1 Garand, M1 carbine, Mauser M98 etc... also be such a weapon because they are simple to operate?

the AK is a K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) weapon. in combat this in not a bad thing.

i am not saying the AK is better and i would not say that the AK is inferior. i like all rifle designs.

libertarian............yep LOL

"as far as the weapon being for peasants and farmers would you also say that the M1 Garand, M1 carbine, Mauser M98 etc... also be such a weapon because they are simple to operate?"

No that is not why I say that about the AK.
AKs are for peasants designer said so.(" the common man")

O- and Josey the 74 is much better but how can say it bets them both if it's so under powered?

LARRYG, yes but it's so fun[<]:)]
