WARPLANE WEAPONS: Viper Strike Use Expanded

August 17, 2005: The U.S. Army has had so much success with its Viper Strike “smart bomb”, that the U.S. Air Force is adapting the weapon for use on Predator UAVs and AC-130 gunships. Viper Strike is a 36 inch long unpowered glider. The 130mm diameter (with the wings folded) weapon weighs 44 pounds. Because the Viper Strike comes straight down, it is better suited for urban warfare. Its warhead only contains four pounds of explosives, meaning less damage to nearby civilians, while still powerful and accurate enough to destroy its target. A laser designator makes the Viper Strike accurate enough to hit an automobile, or a foxhole. Moreover, a Predator can carry two Viper Strikes in place of a single, hundred pound, Hellfire missile. An AC-130 could carry dozens of Viper Strike weapons.

Anyone else remember when we were buging 5.56 ammo from the Israelis that Demonshit that wanted us to ship the ammo to the US for training and ship the US ammo to the MidEast as to not offend the terrorists by using 'jew bullets'....

and who would have thought that this plane original was a CARGO plane now it is a attack plane/bomber very cool.

Since the ViperStrike bomb is guided, do they have to drop it from the wings or can they just chuck it out the doors and it'll home in on the target?

That would interesting Psy Ops to see an object thrown out of an AC-130, then the object starts to twist and turn, and BOOM right on target.

I heard of that. Stupid PC Generals, now we have to pay more shipping costs for bullets manufactured further away!

Here's something to wrap your mind around. When something bad happens in the Muslim world it is due to Allah's will and/or it's blamed on the Isrealis. Ergo, Allah is Jewish.
