Hundreds upon hundreds of adjusters ...... Thousands and thousands of policyholders with losses.....

And two sisters (independent adjusters - not State Farm employees) are whistle-blowers and two "suspicious" claims and all of a sudden State Farm is a horrible company.

More sickening media hype.

Well, even if the media performed yet another hack job, State Farm is still a miserable company with shitty morals. My sister was hit by a woman who decided to make a wide U turn from the right shoulder of the road without checking for traffic first. The woman's insurance, State Farm. My sister's insurance, State Farm. She had to hire her own attorney and still took a bath.

My step father is a State Farm agent.   He's made a good living for my mother and himself, but the company has treated him like shit the last few years.  He is close to retirement, and actually have two offices in different towns.   He is holding on because he is so close to retirement.

We obviously have insurance with him, and it seems like SF is pretty competitive.   I just hate the way they have treated him.    It used to be pretty lucrative, now SF has gotten stingy, and they are cutting costs by skimming more off the top from the agents.  They are treated like used car salesman, by uncaring dealers........

I have had to deal with State Farm twice over vehicle accidents. Since I wasn't insured with State Farm and the other parties were, they tried to treat me like shit. I had to raise hell with them to get a rental vehicle. Then they told me I could only keep it for several days and my truck wasn't ready.
As far as I'm concerned.....if they finally got some bad press, they damn sure deserve it.

Fuck state farm. After paying the bastards for sixteen years for both home and auto I filed a claim for body damage to my truck when a deer jumped out in front of me. They insisted on using used or cheap after market body parts but they paid the claim. That same year my neighbor, also a state farm client, backed into me as I drove past her house. They paid out for the accident then dropped me; said I was "high risk."

I've had State Farm for decades.  When I was still married, my wife wrecked her BMW twice within 2 years.  Approximately $15,000 in repairs each time.  State Farm took care of the car both times without a hitch.

I got hit from the rear by some broad; she broke her turn signal lens. Sued me for $25,000 for auto damage, loss of wages, pain & suffering etc. etc. Settled for about $3500. (Been with them 25 years.)
State Farm then almost DOUBLED my insurance!! Said I was "More than 50% at fault in the accident" because I was making a legal right turn from a driveway. State Farm wasn't like a a good neighbor to ME!

I'm with Geico now.

Allstate: I had a g/f whose VW was parked on the street, legally. Some asshat lost control at the intersection and hit her car. She collected from the other guy's insurance and Allstate STILL CANCELLED HER due to being "accident prone!"

Ditto.  My parked van got totalled in a chain-reaction accident.  After explaining the incident to the adjuster, his reply was, "Well, the other two parties are going to argue forever about whose fault it was, but the one thing we know is that it wasn't yours.  We will pay for your claim and then go after their insurance companies for reimbursement."

I got a check seven days later for $1,500 more than I expected.

only auto  insurance I ever had that went up every year
I turned the magic 25 and they fucking doubled it
called farmers mutual got the same policy for 20% of what i was paying those assholes
they were cheap to start but kept creeping the rates up then after they had ya and figured you were too lazy to move they really cranked it up
farmers has lowered my rates every year since I have been with them

Sounds like failure to yield.  You made a right hand turn in front of oncoming traffic and got hit in the rear end, correct?

I've had the misfortune of being involved in quite a few "accidents" over the years.  It's been my personal experence that State Farm is very hard to deal with.  I have been screwed over by them seveal times over the years and would never recomend or use any of their services.

I've used Shelter Insuance since I was sixteen and have made several legit claims with them over the years and have always been happy with the results.  Of course.....YMMV

Your insurance company does not have a leg to stand on until they pay a claim.  It is called the right of subrogation.  You were the one who suffered damages and you were the one involved in the claim.  Allstate would not have dealt with State Farm until they paid the claim and subrogated.  If you had filed through your company they would have paid your claim (if you purchased the coverage) and gone against the other company.

Another case where the horrible insurance company was not so horrible.

State Farm changed my billing address for no reason.  I had to call them and ask why I hadn't recieved a bill for the last two months.  They told me that my policy had been cancelled because of non-payment.  WTF???  They screwed up and fixed it.

The second time they did this to me I told them to shove their policy up their ass.

Wobblin Gobblin, that's the truth.

Whether one has had good or bad experiences with any particular company is not really the issue.  I can say my only claim experience with S-F was a good one.  I recognize that another office and adjuster might make an experience a bad one.  The same can be said for any company.  The issue I would have with any such "report" is the hatchet job based on a pre-conceived notion or hidden agenda or, just a sensationalist explosion to make a news item when there's nothing else they want to talk about.  It's the same mentality that is anti-gun and anti America: "We know best; we will tell you what to think; the hell with full facts."

We live in a "hurricane prone" area.  State Farm is about to jack our rates through the roof.

As soon as that happens, we're moving our workman's comp, general liability, and 6 auto policies to the lowest bidder.  Their loss will exceed my increase.

Oh, and by the way, most all insurance companies are scum.  What they are doing to hurricane victims far exceeds what Enron did to their shareholders.

There should be a website where policyholder feedback can be displayed, for all to see just how unscrupulous these companies are at paying hurricane claims.  Every day they delay is a profitable day for them.
