Problem is, deadly force was used without a deadly threat. It's fucked up on all sides, but I hope this causes agencies to evaluate their policy on less lethal weapons. |

We're in agreement. That cop fucked-up...plain and simple. You don't shoot a been-bag out of a 12ga into a crowd, period! Maybe, there's more to this story. I don't know, but if there isn't then this cop should do time in jail. Here in Austin, the police riot squad have been known to CAUSE riots downtown. They get into a mob mentality like the people they're trying to control. I'm so sick of the people on this board that excuse ANY and ALL actions IF a police officer is involved. The bad apples need to be rooted-out. Remember, that was somebody's little girl he killed. You sort of need to look at the video of the area when the incident happened. Other than a few kids climbing up on signs and such there just wasn't much going on. Only a single officer shot anything at the time, and that shot was not quite "less than lethal." As for a riot, it didn't really qualify. 80,000 people and there were all of 8 arrests... for disorderly conduct primarily. As for the officer, I have no doubt in the world that he/she was told that weapon was "less than lethal" and deployed it with that assumption. The headshot is unfortunate and I hope not a lack of training. In the end I think pepper spray balls are a better alternative than nightsticks. |

Exactly when did it become a justification for the use of lethal force in Mass?
Standing in the street, watching, quietly, with about 12 friends.
You'd walk away cuffed and charged with assault and battery, it sounds like. They were city signposts and Ms. Snelgrove was quite a bit below anyone climbing anything. |
