I am assuming by "A3," you are referring to flat top models. Flat tops are definitely the way to go. They allow the mounting of either CQB or longer range optics. With the right set-up, you can cowitness your irons and go to them instantly (or at least pretty darn quick) if your optics go out. Even if you are a dedicated "irons" guy, it is nice to have the option of going to an optic later down the road, and having a flat top will increase the resale value of your system. I take care of a small "fleet" of M16s and ARs used for LE, and, in doing a cost analysis of some of the newer mounting solutions for our older weapons and CQB optics, it will be cheaper for me to buy flat top uppers than it will be to buy some of these "adjustable" cantilever mounts. Go with the flat top. Even if you don't like it, you can still use the nearly identical irons in the carry handle.

I second the A3..More flexibility and higher resale if you want later down the road.

A1 or A2 for their simplicity.

If you ever want to do something besides a carry handle rear sight go A3. Much more flexible.
