9mm is more available and less expensive than 5.56x45 right now. I'm looking for a good 9mm carbine to shoot and train with and have always been fond of the MP5.

Who makes good clones and has them in stock? I don't need an authentic HK for a blaster.

Are there other good 9mm carbines to consider?

Just Right Carbine.  Takes Glock mags, uses a lot of AR parts.

Love my spikes carbine I got a few months back. Almost like i had foresight into whats going on now.
I had spent the last several years debating whether or not to get one and i did, then got a bunch of mags just before sandy hook.

Ive got a good local source for cheap 9mm ammo and its fun as hell to bump as well

This.

I bought one a few weeks ago from a local dealer for about $800.

It is a very nice shooting carbine AND the bolt and shell eject are ambidextrous.  They can be configured for either side.

VERY AR like.  Hell, the barrel is even threaded.

I sold a 9mm hi-point at a gun show in December for $400 right after the shooting at Sandy Hook.

There's an interesting new 9mm. carbine coming from Caracal. It was at the SHOW Show this year:

I actually bought mine the day after Sandy Hook, for $440, barely used

The Beretta CX4 Storm is really nice. It's compact and easily maneuverable with nice rails for a light. 30 Rd. mags available too. I have a red dot on mine and it is very accurate to 50 yards. A great home defense weapon IMO.

I have a 8" 9mm upper for my SBR AR and a Vector Uzi

Of the two I would say the AR is the way to go but if I couldn't/didn't have either of them I would consider a Beretta Storm carbine as I have a 92FS and could share mags which are available, reliable and still fairly cheap.

Hipoint of course.

Yeah its ugly as sin and you have to lie to your friends about it; but when you are on a budget and want something that will reach out a bit better, you honestly can't beat the price point.

It's the fat chick at prom; you are going to get made fun of, but sure as hell you are getting laid.

I'll probably get flamed for this but my Calico M900 has always been reliable and accurate. 50 and 100 round helical magazines and an 'evidence bag' to catch the empties, whats not to like? I'd say 98% of the people who bash them have never shot one.

I have a Cohaire Mp5 clone that is a great 9mm carbine. It did require that I swap out certain parts like the bolt with real HK parts to get it running reliably, but now it runs like a top

Hmm, love MP5, want gun that shoots cheap ammo to train with.  Why not a GSG .22, if you can find one, of course?
