Building a fun gun so not really worried about reliability, more " how sexy can I make this gun"
So do you like the look of angled or straight mags ? Poll inbound |
I have one with the QC-10 lower that uses Colt stick mags.............I like it alot

Colt Mags
Glock Mags Reg lower w/ Mag adapter In that order. I own a glock lower. |
If I was going to buy one, straight mag. If PSA ever releases a PA-45 that takes straight mags I'd be all over it.
I can't the look of the Glock mag lowers, the stick mags in my opinion look appropriate.
Straight mag looks best, if cosmetics is the only concern.
Though the curved mags also look well, not too many of those around, however. |
I have Glock handguns so I built a Glock pistol, but … I think the Colt mag guns look much cooler.
I voted straight (like me) strictly for aesthetics, because the RO635 is one of my favorite M16 variants. Function-wise though, no preference.

Definitely prefer the looks of straight mags.
That said I don't think I have ever shot a pistol caliber AR. |

I bought the Glock style because it was what I found and I liked the idea of a rifle I could partner with a pistol. I then bought a Glock. I also now own a .45 that uses the Glock mags as well, both rifles from PSA. So I'm in the Glock mag camp.
I voted straight mags by the way. It looks better in my opinion. |

I like the classic straight Colt SMG look. But I get the ease and cost of the new Glock lowers. I only have the straight mags. Two of mine...

I am not wild about how any of them look but if I had to choose on looks I would take the straight mags.
I have a Glock lower and a regular lower with an adapter that takes Sten mags. The Sten mags have been cheaper but the Glock mags are way more available. |
CZ scorpion, because these are all fugly and I could be shooting rifle rounds outta something the same size.
I like the straight mags, they are a modified Uzi mag so there are pouches and mag available.

Try loading 300 rounds into the mags and you'll appreciate the double feed colt style.
Didn't someone make one that took MP5 mags awhile ago? That would be nice.

Pictures are welcome to back up opinions. View Quote Attached File But I am also considering a Glock style since I already have the mags |
Both look fine if they are dedicated magwells. Anyone who thinks straight mags look good like the guns above when you've got a mag sticking out of a magwell that's 2x bigger than it should be is delusional. It looks like shit.

I want guns that are fun and reliable.
I don't want to be that fat neckbeard asshole at the range pulling the charging handle after each time he pulls the trigger. |

IDGAS. The AR-15 is not a beauty contest entrant, never will be. I have both. The Colt type does have a more reliable last shot BHO.

Mine uses Colt style mags. I'm sure they work fine, but the Glock mag lowers look weird to me. If I was well vested in 33 round Glock magazines, I'd probably go that way just so I wouldn't have to buy anymore magazines.
No pics, mine is just a lower for now, got the stamp back recently and haven't put it together yet. |

I like the looks of Glock mags myself plus the interchangeability between my G19 is nice too. |
I have a Colt 6951, so I like the straight stick mags.
I bought a bunch of Uzi mags that I need to convert over. I want to say they were like $11 each....which is way cheaper than any Glock mag, especially the 33 rounders. EDIT: I hate Glocks...so commonality with a handgun was never a concern |
IMO, straight mags look better, but I already have a Glock 17 and a few 33 round magazines, so function wins.
