I did a search and well...nothing. I'm sure its been asked before but I need some concrete evidence of which round has better penatrating capability.

I'm involved in an argument with some old Jarhead and without saying who said what....I just figured I'd come here and ask the experts.

What has better penatration 5.56 out of a full length barrel or 7.62 short out an AK?

the 7.62x39 will punch through materials better than the 5.45x39

Everyone knows that 5.56 is the Chuck Norris of ammunition.

Depends upon the material. Things like wood, the 7.62 is better. Steel, the 5.56 is better.

pretty much my results, building materials like brick, stone, concrete, sheet rock and doors 7.62 carries alot better through them

but steel plates and real hard stuff the 556 punches tiny little holes.

The Box o' Truth and History Channel tests confirm 7.62 penetrates better (except steel).
