Well, I think we are.  One nuked US City is all it will take to bring about the end of everything we have ever known in this country and everything worth defending.  Even if the above doesn't happen, the huge increases to the budgets of law enforcement at every level are going to have a gigantic impact on personal freedom.  You will have all your wages stolen from you and they will be used to crush you.
