4th Iraqi Army Division accomplishes independent assault

Multi-National Division – North PAO

TIKRIT, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces and Concerned Local Citizens, in response to local citizens’ tips, conducted a unilateral operation 15 miles southwest of Samarra in the early morning of Oct. 4. Several terrorists were killed, 27 hostages were rescued, and a sizable cache of weapons and equipment were discovered during the operation.

Acting on intelligence tips received from CLCs in western Salah ad Din province, elements of the 4th Iraqi Army, along with Iraqi Police from the 2nd Emergency Response Unit, uncovered 27 varied weapon systems, including DSHKA heavy machine guns, in addition to rescuing 27 truck drivers and destroying eight enemy cargo trucks.

While conducting site exploitation, IA Soldiers were engaged by dozens of enemy fighters with small-arms fire. The gunfight resulted in eight terrorists killed, including two potential senior leaders. Additionally, 37 suspected terrorists were detained.

During the collective effort between the IA, IPs and CLC, two IEDs detonated against the combined team while traveling to the site, killing Sheik Maawiyah Naji Jebara, a senior member of the Salah ad Din Support Council, and wounding another sheik.

“The loss of Sheik Maawiyah is a great tragedy for Salah ad Din, and his leadership will be sorely missed by all who knew him,” said Hamed Hamood Shekti al-Qaisi, governor of Salah ad Din. “He died heroically fighting against al-Qaeda and he will be an example for all Iraqis who yearn for a strong and independent Iraq.”

CF provided medical evacuation to a Coalition hospital. In total, there were two IPs killed, two IA killed, four CLC killed, and more than 20 injured.

And you probably never will. Somehow, good news just doesn't make the type of story that's appealing to the fucking vultures known as "journalists". They prefer stories of tragedy, such as IED's blwoing up, sending kids flying into trees and leaving their intestines hanging out. That sort of shit sells I guess. So that's the kind of stuff they want to report, the rest be damned as far as they care. The media is nothing more than a bunch of well paid vultures. They live off the dead. Most members of the media I am familiar with would rate behind used car salesmen on my shit list. And used car salemen rank mighty damn low, so you can figure where I place the media.

The main stream media will never report this. It doesn't jive with their propoganda initiative nor with their bosses (the liberals) agenda.

Glad to hear that they're beginning to stand on their own two feet.

(This is where the Iraqi people should be proud of their 'baby' and encourage it... If this continues, they're on their way, as long as it isn't corrupted beyond the usual democracy.)

I would like them to become 100% independent of us, succeed in their goal of freedom and peace, and not have a democratic society/government. If they ever plan on staying free, they need to always be willing to stand for themselves and not let the government take on that role... And if there ever were a time in their history to do that, it's now.

And if they were to run the story, it would be twisted to say that the hadji that were killed were non-combatants.

+1

But it'd be nice if this stuff would show up on CNN

It's great it shows up here, but nobody here is a fence sitter or anti-troop.

I forwarded the link to my co-worker, Ryan, who's brother was fatally wounded by an IED in the Samara region. Ryan is glad to hear of the good news and that the locals are helping locate the terrorists.

It means that the locals are backing USA efforts to stabilize their country and helping us track down the badguys.

Yup. And the locals continue to rally to our side at an ever increasing rate. That is why we are having much more success in Iraq and why violence is considerably down. Many areas that were basically open killing zones a year or two ago are today pretty much pacified. Amazing transformation. And most of us knew what it would take to get there and that's help from the Iraqis themselves. They have finally decided that we can and will help them, but that they have to grab the reigns and guide us. I expect more towns that have long been hotspots to also be pacified soon with this continued increase in Iraqi help.

It seems we are in a race, not so much with Al-Qaida and other terrorist groups in Iraq, but with the leftist politicians and news media. The left and media fear success in Iraq and are doing everything possible to make sure we are out of there before the whole country is pacified and stable, so as to guarantee we are viewed as "losers". Afterall, it would be their worst nightmare to actually see us succeed in Iraq, as that would basically leave them with nothing to discuss politically. They have no real, viable ideas and plans that appeal to a large part of America. So they have taken the unpopular nature of this war and ran with it. As such, they don't wanna lose their key issue that they knew was what got them elected to a majority in Congress in 06 and what they hope will get them in the White House in 08. Because without problems in Iraq, they are dead in the water. And they know it.
