Meh, seems to happen once a year in Muskegon county. Other places on 31 don't seem to get such large pile ups.

Now, I-75 gets some big wrecks.

On I-75? Yes, three people died in one such pile up last year.(2 kids)

Muskegon County? None that I can recall for such pileups; fatals tend to be solo acts or duets for some reason.

I know for a fact the first image happened earlier last winter, and there was fatalities and many serious injuries. That was a bad one.

I know a lot of people that travel south for winter but I've never heard of southerners heading north in any quantity during winter.

I know the joke has ran it's course, but did you get rid of the locking lugs after that, or do you still use them?
All of my vehicles came with them. That is usually the first thing I get rid of.

Oh, I got rid of them. They were factory. As fun as that thread was, it really did only take me about an hour (including drive time to the hardware store) to bust 'em off.

I went to NAPA and picked up some generic chrome wheel nuts.

I didn't need that many.

I don't remember what 16 of them cost me (I needed longer ones, because the studs stick way out on the steel wheels I use in winter), but it was a little bit of nothing. I also picked up 4 of the short ones (exact match to factory, which was nice), to replace the locking ones I busted off.

Sonofabitch.
When ~1/2" of snow in my driveway is packed down (and I've got the Toyo summer performance rubber mounted), I can literally put the car in reverse, let the clutch out, get out of the car, shut the door, and stand next to my car, watching the wheels spin.

It's literally undrivable, with even a dusting on the road. It's the low temps more than anything. The tires might as well be race slicks, at that point. Except not as grippy in the snow as race slicks are.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:20:52 AM EST
Driven that road more times than I can count.
