Okay I'm no writer, so Ill keep it brief.

operatorerror's 20 second movie review

Last night I received a call from an ex g/f. She asked me if I wanted the pleasure of attending the new release "The 40 Year Old Virgin" with her. As I had no plans, I accepted.

When we arrived at the theater, I noted that the parking lot was packed to capacity. I finally found a spot about a half a mile from the theater, but the thought of a sold out show, which frequently happens here, ran through my mind. We made the trek through the mindless hordes ( I swear that the living dead are amongst us) to the ticket counter. When I stepped up and inquired as to the ticket status of the next show, I was informed that there were plenty of seats left. This set off the bomb alarm bell in my head, a movie that nobody wants to see. A stinker. We struggled through the land of the dead and aquired our refreshments. When we entered the theater in which "Virgin" was playing I was treated to a half empty theater with plenty of choice seating still available. Not a good sign for a Friday night opening!

However, I was pleasantly surprised! This movie ain't half bad. The buddies in the film were almost believable. It seemed like their banter was unscripted and improvised, which made it all the more funny. I enjoyed it and had some good laughs. The audience really seemed to like it a lot! Maybe they were drunk or something but many people were howling at this flick. I was amused.

It was damn sight better than that crapfest "Team America".

And I almost got some pie after the show!!!

ETA I should add that this movie is NOT for kids! Unless you want to explain the whole morning wood thing. And porn. And sex toys. Condoms. And lots of other potentially embarrassing scenarios! The humor is VERY silly and sophomoric.

Why people bring kids to movies like this I will never understand.

I saw it yesterday too, at a 7 PM showing and I don't know how that happened, but it also sold out.

I enjoyed the crap out of this movie and Steve Carrell is my new comedy-movie-guy-to-watch. I don't know what it is with this guy, but even the smallest things he did had me bawling. About 15 minutes into the movie, he trips on a box, makes a little face and moves on... I was rolling on the ground. His subtle little facial movements had me going the whole movie.

This one definately isn't for the kids. Drug use, language, racial slurs ("What are we, Al Queda?), and the ever important sexual situations.

Best scenes, IMO: chest waxing and the finale.

I'm going back again, and I'm buying this one.

I guess you didn't see his NBC series 'The Office' this year. Only six episodes in the first season, though it's been renewed for next year. I'd say it is worth buying sight unseen if the DVD comes out anytime soon.

Steve Carrell is the star, and the show is absolutely hilarious.

Yeah, this one was hilarious.

The chest waxing scene had the entire theater in side splitting laughter.

My review of The 40-YearOld Virgin:

FUNNY.

I was laughing pretty much troughout the entire movie. I was in tears several times and half of those laughing so hard I was in pain.

Should Fox ever return do you think that, instead of “Resident Kid”, he should call himself “Future 40 Year Old Virgin”?

I finally saw this movie tonight, and absolutely loved it. I didn't think I would, which is why I waited this long to go see it, but I'll probably buy the DVD when it comes out.

Only bad thing was, my sister talked me into taking her with me, and it really was somewhat uncomfortable to watch with her sitting beside me, particularly when the hot blond bookstore worker is pleasuring herself in the bathtub.

All in all, a terrific movie. I thought the ending was quite silly, though.

Very funny movie, but not as good as The Wedding Crashers.

This movie was horrible.

The Office is alot better than this movie. Steve Carrell's part in Bruce Almighty was better than this movie....

SPOILER WARNING:

I honestly didn't laugh out loud, except for when he crashed his bike through that billboard and he said something to the affect of "that sign had two sides....and they were equally painful."

Other than that I thought it was "cheap" humor. Nothing I hadn't seen 100 times before.
