http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1347065_Show_Me_a_Video_That_Gives_You_a_Rush_.html&page=1#i34835098

summary from one of the links pointed to above, which is the very same situation as reported in 2010 and again in 2011:

the link is broken because the ARFCOM forum software translates two consecutive dashes into an "em dash" –– even when the dashes are embedded into a URL.

the link to the subject page includes two consecutive dashes, which the forum software duly converts to an em dash, and hence the link is incorrect after it has been processed. this is clearly an error in the forum software, as nothing inside the URL tags should be stapled, folded, spindled, or mutilated.

It would be nice if we could fix this so we don't have to make shorter links to post these kind of URLs

ARFCOM sysadmins:

You can manually fix this by replacing consecutive dashes with the ASCII equavilent "%2d" for each "dash" (without quotes).
Example
http://www.tractorsupply.com/countyline-reg-deluxe-trailer-sprayer-with-boom-25-gal––2130356
Becomes
http://www.tractorsupply.com/countyline-reg-deluxe-trailer-sprayer-with-boom-25-gal%2d%2d2130356

Working link:

again. this must be at least twice this has happened. maybe three times at most?

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1394219_Man_pulls_gun_on_line_cutter_after_being_punched_in_the_face.html

based on recent events, i'm beginning to think the only way to get the attention of ARFCOM staff is to post pictures of hairy dicks.

Obviously:

1 - ARFCOM doesn't think it's a big enough issue to warrant their time to address it and fix it

or

2 - They don't know how to fix it
