This bomb shit seems to be picking up steam.  The last thing we need is for this to become the next "roadside sniper" trend for the unbalanced to copy, or worse, stir the sleepers awake.
3 bombs at Georgia Tech

Cheers

If these "bombs" are what I think they are, they don't pose any danger to anyone unless someone is stupid enough to pick one up.  Just a little noise to scare people, that's about it.

So..  the custodian is "injured" because his ears are ringing?

Sounds like a novelty type noise maker.

Granted, it was probably on a larger scale, but jeesh.

I pity the guy who made them if he gets caught.

I hope "intent" plays a factor into this.

Nobody was intended to be hurt.

When I went to college, most everyone seemed to be into a little mischief.

I agree that it probably wasn't intended to hurt anyone- but it probably was intended to scare the crap out of people and cause a huge comotion.  Two weeks ago it wouldn't have even been newsworthy, but to do it a couple days after an announcement about bomb threats to NYC subways and what sounds like a failed bottle bomb being found in a train station... these kids were asking for trouble.  I wouldn't call it a terrorist act, but I do think it's worthy of pretty sever punishment.

If there's no direct physical harm caused by these, think about what intel can be gathered from the response.

Bad guys intent on real harm could see a slow or haphazard response - they've got themselves a target. Another bad effect could be security in these sites get jaded by all the "false alarms" and don't respond when it really counts.
