no sacrifices?
<scratches masonic membership off of list of things to attain> |

Heck, I could have bought the paraphernalia at the George Washington Masonic Shrine in Alexandria. Much easier and less work. Then again, I don't do all the good stuph the Masons & Shriners do for society. Congratulations Eric the Hun. You dun us proude.

|
I don't know anything about the Masons but it sounds like a feat. Congratulations.
|
|
Apparently not. Unless I'm the scheduled sacrifice for tomorrow! You may be thinking of the 33rd Degree of Masonry, which is a honor bestowed upon certain meritorious Masons, who by virtue of their contributions to the community are selected for that esteemed degree. While ETA - The actual number is 17 US Presidents were Master Masons: Washington, Madison, Monroe, Jackson, Polk, Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Garfield, McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, Harding, Franklin Roosevelt, Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Ford, and Reagan. But I will check to make certain. Eric The(Historical)Hun |

Does this mean you're gonna' be the next US President?...
Hell, I'll vote fer ya' anyway. |

I was in the De Molay (sp ?) for 2 years. Pretty cool, but it was not for me. When kids were reciting portions of Pink Floyd "The Wall" like they were edicts from God (I mean they were convinced), I deemed that my time was better spent studying in school.
The Masons I know are very honorable people. Congrats, and I wish you the best. It certainly takes effort to progress in that society. After all, how bad of a society can it be? Our fore-fathers were masons and they managed to put together the greatest country this world has ever seen. |
|
Maybe, but the Shriners (which is my next goal) will be overwhelmed by them! They enjoy the joie de vivre more than most Masons! Eric The(ScoundrelInSomeAreas)Hun |

Congrats on moving up in an organization that obviously rules the world.
We are but your slaves now.............. |
|
Sir! You insult me! Never would I deign to enter any 'Yankee thing'! But quite a few Yankees are, indeed, Masons! Let's see the Confederate heroes who were Masons: Confederate Generals Pickett, Armistead, Heth, Pike, Imboden...I'm still looking! Be right back! Eric The(Confederate)Hun |

How about...Gen. Stonewall Jackson?
Here's a website dedicated to Masons who fought on both sides during the War Between the States: www.phoenixmasonry.org/masonicmuseum/civil_war_fdcs_masonic.htm Quite a few Johnny Rebs in that listing! Eric The(Unreconstructed)Hun |

Hey EricTheHun, I was hoping to build a BBQ pit this spring, I need some pointers on the masonry, can you give some free advice? Should I use bricks or cinder block and do they need to be fire rated?
Congrats! ByteTheBullet (-: |

Doesn't that work out to something like a degree every 3 days since you joined? Do you skip degrees; does it progress from degree 0, to degree 11, to degree 21, and then degree 32, just to throw the unwashed outsiders off?
I'm guessing the details of the degrees are secret, is this the highest degree? Here is a page of links about Masons masons.start4all.com/; interesting. Here is where they held rasslin' matches when I was a tyke - www.abashrine.com/ Interesting - web.mit.edu/dryfoo/Masonry/Essays/mem-ritual.html Some background info - www.mofreemason.com/friend352/msninfo.htm |

OK mason, who the hell is "The Great Architect" and whats up with the baphomet hand symbol? You seem like a christian from your posts but the masonic order has NOTHING to do with christianity. Eventually you may find out and then you'll probably join the Knights Templars.

[animal house]Thank you sir, may I have another...Thank you sir, may I have another![/animal house] I don't have the faintest idea about the Masons other than the movie National Treasure, but good job, I think?! |

I had read somewhere the George H. W. Bush was a 33rd Degree Mason/Grand Mason. -k |

Maybe, but the Shriners (which is my next goal) will be overwhelmed by them!
Tell the truth, you just wanted one of those little motorbikes, or to drive one of those cars! |

The Supreme Architect of the Universe is None Other than God Himself.
I have no idea about any such 'hand signal.' Baphomet was a Middle Eastern goat god that was worshipped in the first several centuries of the Christian Era and then died out. It has nothing to do with our Masonic Order.
You are certainly right that 'Freemasonry' is NOT a religion. All you need to believe in to be a Mason is One Supreme Being and Eternal Life. In the United States and Europe, that One Supreme Being is the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and this can be discerned from the fact that just about every symbol in Masonry derives from King Solomon's Temple. And, if you recall, that Temple was a Temple in which Our God was well worshipped by His people.
Well, isn't that odd. Here are the requirements for membership in the Knights Templar: * Member of a recognized Craft Lodge (Master Mason) * Member of a recognized Chapter (Royal Arch Mason) * * Personally known by his sponsor and seconder * Well reputed for morals and gentlemanly conduct * Believer in the doctrine of the Holy Trinity ( a Christian) Since I intend to seek admission to a Chapter of York Masons (Royal Arch Masons), it's very likely that I will be a member of the Knights Templar by the end of this year! Will I be welcomed back into my church after that? Or, more importantly, will I be a Christian again? Eric The(NobleAtTimes)Hun |

Are you kidding? For being a 'secret' organization, the 'square and compasses' of the Masons is likely the second most universally recognized symbol in the Western World! (The Christian Cross being the first) Ask any Mason if they are one and they will gladly admit it. Some secrecy! Did I show you my Masonic ring? Eric The(VeryPleased)Hun |

He's talking about when George W. Bush did the "Hook 'em horns" hand symbol. There's apparently a group of people who believe this is some Satanistic gesture. Guess they'd be pretty scared when they go to a UT game and see ten thousand Longhorn fans doing it. |

Brother, congratulations on your advancement and education in Masonry.
For you others the Masonic fraternity is not a "secret society", it is a society with secrets which helps us to recognize one another. The most important requirement is that one believes in ONE GOD. Christians, Jews, and yes even Muslims are welcome. Although Freemasonry is illegal in most Muslim countries. Masonry's objective is to take a good man and help him become a better man. |
|
You're kidding? Jeepers! That's incredible! When I was looking for 'famous Confederate heroes who were Masons', I ran across a website that blamed the Masons for the Assassination of Kennedy! www.geocities.com/theawakeningnews/Secret_Societies-JFK_Assassination.html Check this out: THE FREEMASONS KILLED JFK And now, back to the most popular conspiracy question : Who did kill JFK ? If you still think it was Lee Harvey Oswald and you believe the lone assassin theory or if you are stuck in a cave somewhere building a wheel that is shaped like a square then consider these important historical facts : The assassination took place in Dealey Plaza, site of the first Masonic temple in Dallas. Dallas is located just south of the 33rd degree of latitude. The 33rd degree is the highest degree one can achieve in Freemasonry. Shakespeare's MacBeth is a "Killing of the King" drama. MacBeth, who killed his King in accordance with a witch's plot and was himself later killed, parallels the JFK assassination and the sequence of Oswald being killed by Ruby. "Mason Road" in Texas, connects to the "Mason No El Bar" and the Texas / New Mexico "Land of Enchantment" border. This connecting line is on the 32nd degree. When the 32nd degree line of latitude is traced west into the "Land of Enchantment", it becomes situated midway between Deming and Columbus. Slightly to the north of the town of Columbus are the "Tres Hermanas" (Three Sisters) mountains. The Three Sisters are found approx. 32 miles between Deming and Columbus and are a minute and some seconds south of the 32nd degree line. When this line is traced further to the west, it passes the ghost town of Shakespeare at a distance south of the town that is roughly equivalent to the distance which the 32nd degree line passes north of the three sisters mountains. Both Shakespeare and the three sisters relate to MacBeth. When this 32nd degree line is traced some distance further west, into Arizona, it crosses an old trail which meanders north of a ghost town, which was once the town of Ruby. The trail itself was called Ruby Road. Ruby Road twists north into the area of 2 mountain peaks known as Kennedy and Johnson Mountains. The New Orleans CIA (who provided security) station's headquarters were in a Masonic temple. And last but not least, Mason Lyndon Johnson appointed Mason Earl Warren to investigate Kennedy's death. 33rd degree Mason, Gerald Ford was instrumental in suppressing what little evidence of a conspiratorial nature reached the commission. Responsible for supplying information to the commission was 33rd degree Mason J. Edgar Hoover and former CIA director and Mason Allen Dulles was responsible for most of his Agency's information to the panel. There IS NO need to wonder whether there is a conspiracy going on, the fact is AMERICA IS ONE BIG LIVING CONSPIRACY. Land sakes' alive! You can't make up that sort of stuff unless you really need to be institutionalized! Eric The(Institutional)Hun |

... congratulations! Sure hope this doesn't upset the balance and keep you from sharing a table at the "L" again someday

Strange. Those are 'Knights Templar' represented in that illustration from rotten.com, and they are the Masonic Order noted for being the most 'Christian' of all the Masonic Orders! They are easily recognized by their white tunics with large red crosses. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Eric The(DefenderOfChrist)Hun |

Thanks! Do not worry! I attend and will always attend many 'Lodges' in the DFW area. There was no oath of celebacy required. Nor an oath of idiocy, either! Eric The(Eternal)Hun |

So, when you reach Templar status, are you going to lead us on a Crusade?
Seriously though, my step-mom is into the whole Prieure de Sion/Knights Templar/Holy Grail thing since she found out that the house that my dad and her bought in France is literally next door to where all this stuff is centralized in Rennes-le-Chateau. So... when they let you in on the Grail secret, post it here with pics! CW |

One of the links talks about the new Mason making a choice to follow either Scottish or York.
I'm going to see what I can find out about that, but if it isn't secret to divulge, what are the differences between the two? I belive it said that the York path allows/leads to the Templar, but you can't get to the Templar group from the Scottish rite. ? Jim |

OK, When you all see ETH walking funny next week you know what his 'Sacrifice' was...... |
|
|
Oh coooool! I would love that. Not necessarily the France part, but being around such an area of historical mystery. Neat! |
|
|
There should be a law that says we can move all the COOL history OUT of France, and over here. F those smelly bastards. They don't need it! Congrats, ETH! |

So, guess who was assigned to be my Master of Ceremonies for my installation today?
Rear Admiral Lester Robert Smith (US Navy Ret.)! He personally gave me a tour of the Scottish Rite Temple, and led me around through the ceremonies, arm in arm! What a fine gentleman he is! Let me tell y'all folks, this Masonry business is a very, very nice thing indeed! I was shown the actual medals of America's most decorated serviceman in World War II - Audie Murphy! He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in the Valley of Dallas! And his many, many medals, including the CMOH that he received(!), were all on display in the Temple! Excellent, indeed! Eric The(PleasedAsPunch!)Hun |

So many choices still left.....
Acronyms of Societies A neighbor went into the Royal Order of Jesters after Masons. I think they mostly caroused, at least according to him. |
