I carry a glock in my car as my main protection but carry a akm in the trunk as well. Is that overkill or just being a Texan?

You can never have enough.

You need a handgun and a long gun.

Consider adding a BUG.

Damn, thats it? I have CC 1-2 on me, one CC in another spot in vehicle...thats for handgun(s). I still have others(unloaded rifles) that are with vehicle, hidden...mags for rifles are close...very close.
Your from Texas...I thought that you guys down there had to have like 20 guns on you or in your vehicle, just to get the License Plate with Texas on it.

My car has 3 guns in it at all times.
Plus whatever I happen to be carrying when I get in.
When I go to the range, I have an - an - an arsenal!

Why is it in the trunk? Can you  carry it in the passenger compartment? Or is that not legal in Texas?

Nothing wrong with that. I'm building some mounts in mine.

I keep a 12 gauge in there and always have my CCW when I get in it.  I don't think 2 guns is anywhere near crazy.  I'm considering leaving a K98 with a bit of ammo in there as well.  I've got a storage tub that mounts under my back seat and has a gun rack in it.

There are 2 guns in my truck at any given time... XDm in the console with 3 mags, and AR in the back with 5 mags.

So if the AKM is in the trunk, where do you keep the monkey?

Nope.

Plus I think adding a mosin(Only own 4 guns and one is at the shop being worked on) wouldn't be very practical.

How many mags do you keep in the truck?

Ed Parker, the founder of American Kenpo was often criticized
For the extreme nature of his techniques.

Someone asked him if his methods weren't overkill. He replied that they weren't.
They called it being "overskilled"

Oh yes, please do leave firearms unsupervised in your vehicle. That way, some crack head can steal them and kill a cop on a traffic stop or rob somebody. Or better yet, you can catch them in the act one night and get murdered with your own unsecured firearm.

Guns belong on your body or in your safe. I cant think of many situations in which you would need an AK in your trunk. I know theres situations that you might have to leave your firearm in your trunk, going into the post office, a bar, ect. but you shouldnt be leaving an AK in the trunk.

Really, if you find yourself in a situation where you would want to deploy an AK by yourself, thats probably the exact situation that you would be better served fleeing from with haste.

They always say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but I think this one actually qualifies. What do you think people on a gun board would say? "no man, carrying more than one weapon just dont make no sense" or "weapons, you carry a weapon in the car? you shouldn't carry weapons at all"

texas has a very large burglary motor vehicle problem, leaving weapons in the car isn't a fantastic idea. i've had to take more than a few reports from a few sad gun owners that have had pistols taken.  a gun in the trunk is not a replacement for a gun on your person

When i lived in Texas my friend and his dad went to a  gun show in Houston and they left about $3000.00 dollars worth of guns in trunk of car, long story short when they came out of the gun show the car was gone. the car with all their guns in trunk was stolen!

I don't keep anything in the Mustang––just have my CCW piece, but I did have a long gun in my truck(s) back when I owned them.  2 really isn't a whole lot, especially if one is your ccw.

I have a couple of truck guns. I wouldn't leave anything unattended that you would cry over losing though. I park in a secured area with patrols and active camera surveillance and I bring the guns in a night.

Two is one, and one is none.

The handgun inside enables you to fight your way to the rifle in your trunk.

CZ82 in my center console and AK in the trunk, nothing wrong with that.

The trunk gun is for serious business and is not overkill.  If you ever have to go up against someone seriously determined and well armed, you'll be glad you have a rifle.

I have a Chinese SKS in the back of my Cherokee.  Cheap enough so that I don't care if it gets stolen, but a hell of a lot more gun than any of my handguns.

It's only overkill if you do a mag dump from both guns into the same person.

You carry a plastic gun as your main protection......You must be worried about plastic boogey men coming to get you.
Fucking 2011 and people still flock to the plastic thinking its going to save them.

I got tired of my 1911's showing signs of wear in Texas humidity.

In Dallas I am back to using a 1911, but Houston and B-CS are plastic gun friendly.

OP... wait till someone sees just one of your guns getting in or out at a grocery store.  Enjoy the break in or robbery.  I wish the best for you, though.  I really do.
