Snowstorm back home and my flight is cancelled. Coming back from Puerto Vallerta with a couple friends.
Going to stay overnight at a hotel. Lockhart the place to get BBQ? How far of a ride from the airport? |
|
Are you at DFW or Love field?
If you are at DFW, drive over to Hard 8 BBQ. It isn't far. If you are at love, check out Sonny Bryan's. |
|
CattleAck BBQ in north Dallas. Unfortunately you asked a bit late in the day as they close at 2pm and are only open Thursday and Friday.

Lockhart is way too far from DFW.
You can rent a car and head to Austin (four hours) and stand in line at Franklin's, but if you do that one more hour to Lockhart might be doable. If it were me, I'd head up to Coppel, about ten minutes from DFW and dine at the Hard 8 BBQ. After that go shopping at Bass Pro or something, then go back to the Hard 8 for a last minute BBQ snack before boarding your next flight. |

How does a business make money being open two days a week for 6 hours? Are they catering the other days? The BBQ is damn good. People are waiting in line before they open and they sometimes sell out before closing time. Rent is cheap because it's in an industrial park. No frills just food. |

They've also started doing the first Saturday of every month too. Damn good BBQ and the Crack Cake is friggin' amazing. |

From DFW, go to Bone Daddys in Grapevine. BBQ isn't quite as good as Hard 8, but the atmosphere is 1,000 times better.

Texas just did not seem like the Texas everyone here talks about. You definitely won't get the full Texas experience hanging around the airport. Heim Barbecue on Magnolia St. in Fort Worth is the real deal, and Fort Worth proper is certainly the "most Texas" part of the DFW Metroplex. 40-45 minute drive from the airport, though.... http://heimbbq.com/gallery/ |

I think it's 19.99 a lb so that was just over 20 bucks. It was worth it. So good i got 2 the next time http://i.imgur.com/m89p2r8.jpg View Quote Still haven't done the beef ribs. I've been taking the Dallas part of my team there when we get new hires for "Team Orientation" so we can have lunch and talk about work and where we're going in the upcoming months. |

Soulman's BBQ. There's one about 20 minutes from the south entrance of D/FW. IMing you my phone #.

I don't know about the Bone Daddys in Grapevine, but the one in Arlington changed their uniforms. Not even worth going any more. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Hard 8 is where I went on my one visit to DFW. That place was amazing. Free beans, too.

Hard 8 is good. FYI you will smell like BBQ smoke the rest of the day. Pretty awesome.
Love some CattleAke also. I moved offices and have not been there since the remodel though. Not as convenient as Hard 8 but damn good. A catered DFW get together from there sounds great! |

http://heimbbq.com/gallery/ View Quote I got in line there, and you can't even see the chop man. Fort Worth can have a chip on its shoulder about Dallas, but old Fort Worth is no more "Texan" than any other part of D/FW. It's got some well preserved urban neighborhoods, but so does Dallas. And the BBQ scene is improving, but only b/c Soulman's finally got to Hurst. Motown_Steve, the 11 year old, & I are going to the Ft Worth gun show tomorrow after breakfast. IM me if you want to join us. I'll be carrying the Lego-gripped 1911. |

The food at Bone Daddy's sucks and is over priced. Even Spring Creek BBQ is 100% better than Bone Daddy's and Hard 8 is 100% better than Spring Creek. |

When I was there last year, Lockhart only did beef ribs on Wednesdays.
Oh, so worth it. |

You should be able to find more spiced soup than you can shake a stick at.

How are the strip clubs in Texas? Would I stick out if I wasn't wearing a cowboy hat?

Railhead on Montgomery @ I-30 in Ft Worth. The best ribs I ever had.

From DFW ? then Hard 8
Expect a ridiculous line Plan B go to Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao |
