For the last Baja 500 they required 'driving lights' for a section of the race that went onto the highway, basically something a little dimmer than 12 8" KC HID's so we slapped on a set of the cheapest LED pods Amazon had available and went racing. I expected them to work for roughly 0.87 seconds after starting the race, but those little bastards went 500 miles attached to the front of a RENTAL trophy truck and KEPT WORKING. No, they won't throw quite as far as a comparable rigid but if you had a vehicle capable of needing that much throw you wouldn't be asking about budget lights. If you really need what the high end lights have to offer you'll get them, but if not don't let others convince you the cheaper alternatives are shit just because they are cheap. I work in off-road racing, I can buy Rigid/KC/anyone else's lights for cost, and my vehicle has Amazon specials on it because they are still that much less expensive and do everything I need.
