https://wallethub.com/edu/best-worst-small-cities-to-live-in/16581/ But not everyone craves the bright lights and crowded spaces of the big city. For those who are a bit more claustrophobic, appreciate fewer degrees of separation and want more bang for their buck, small-city life is hard to beat.

That right there makes me skeptical. |

Kearney and Hastings Nebraska? That right there makes me skeptical. View Quote Lived in Hastings Ne. for a while, nice place. Good hunting, A gun club with a 300yd rifle range, trap, skeet, indoor 50yd heated pistol range, 24/365 access, and under used. You could always find a lane. Good steak houses nearby, bars, cheap living at the time. A liberal arts collage, so you could always find some tail if in the mood. Good times. |

I like how all of these small cities (for Texas at least) are suburbs of DFW primarily with New Braunfels that shit hole San Angelo added in.....

Their version of small town and mine must differ a bit. A couple of those are local to me and are far from "small town" in any way

I grew up in a small town. Nice memories. I'm too addicted to high wage employment and cultural amenities at this point though to be happy moving back to a small town. I do miss the social interconnections you have in a small town.

Kirkwood, Wildwood, and Ballwin, Missouri are not small cities or towns by any measure than the population inside their incorporated limits. Wildwood in particular is not inexpensive, and Ballwin has horrible, unbearable traffic.

my idea of small town is more like 5000 people or so, not 60,000+ like most of those are

I love my lack of city and diversity.
Hopefully Amazon will offer hot pizza delivery soon. |

Edgewood, MD made the list? That place is ghetto with a capital G.

Hey, I've been to Leesburg,VA, but that was only to see the nearby battlefield, Ball's Bluff.

Not exactly "small" but I guess if they ranked truly small towns, it would be tough with the criteria they are using. How many museums, coffee shops, and pediatricians are they going to find in a town of 4k? |

.....And each of these cities will be receiving it's fair share of Middle Eastern,African,Mexican and OTM migrants if for no other reason than out of spite.

It's a nonsense list -- Brighton and Irondequoit NY are nothing but suburban extensions of Rochester, NY (a Dem hell-hole), and don't even have their own mail identity -- just ZIP codes of Rochester.
|
|
That study is skewed.
The vast majority of those 'small towns" in Texas are nothing more than neighboring suburbs of Houston,Dallas, and San Antonio. In other words not much better at all than living in Houston etc. because of population, crime, and sprawl. Lol. |

These rankings are so subjective. I lived in Princeton NJ for several years. I lived very near Princeton for decades.
I'm in Arkansas now and I am SO much happier. A company would have to offer to TRIPLE my salary for me to even begin to consider moving back. -J |

I grew up in #413
A lot of northwest Chicago suburbs on the list. #10 has my favorite indoor range |
|
From the list...Cape Girardeau, MO. Doesn't that place spend half the year underwater? |
|
Brookfield, WI, number 4 on the list, is very nice, but it really isn't a small stand-alone city. It's part of greater Milwaukee.
|

At least my town is in the top 200 lol. Actually kind of surprised it is not in the top 100. Not sure how Pensacola FL or S. Portland ME beats it though, considering over the past 20 years, it's been in the top 5 safest cities in the US with a population of 30,000.

Highest Mean Hours Worked Per week... Twentynine Palms, CA and Jacksonville, NC are both in the top 5 lololol poor Devil Dogs...

This list is dumb.
They're talking about "a few degrees of separation" and small towns? Upper Arlington Ohio (#16) is literally right in the middle of Columbus and land locked on all sides by Columbus. There's no separation from a big city there. Dublin is another suburb but it is a little farther out at least. |
|
lol i love that the villages is on so high @ 56
but is the lowest in millennial newcomers. i used to work in the area, the average age has to be the upper 60's also it was the only place I've seen with dedicated golfcart roads. also if Fort Smith actually had jobs it wouldn't be so terrible. |

Dakota, Wyoming, etc. have some truly nasty weather quite frequently. Sure, the crime rate is low and housing is cheap but only because it's so damn cold and windy. |
|

Dumb methodology:
The number of pediatricians is almost 3x as important as the amount of crime |
