There is no way I could afford or justify the price of an LTZ Tahoe. Their prices have gotten insane.

We wouldn't have both our '11 Suburban at these prices. I was shocked when I saw the sticker on a new one. Of course the Yukon and Escalades are worse...
I love my 05 suburban. But with young kids, there isn't a way in hell I'd want them eating, drinking and whatever else they do in the back two rows.

Starting MSRP on an Expedition is $8k less, and a Sequoia is $5k less. Just sit back and wait for the $7-10k in rebates after these things have been sitting on the lot for an entire year... which is not exactly a new business model for GM.
Take that price and add sales tax, insurance, maintenance and repairs. You better be a gazillionaire! Monthly payment would be $1700/month!

I paid 8k out the door for my 2k2 Ford Excursion (gasser).
Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. A bit of a guzzler, but hey, it's a massive 'merican SUV. |
They are selling quite well here.
There isn't much competition for them since Ford dropped the Expedition and FIAT has nothing to offer. |
There too expensive and yet where I work we've still sold 3 so far..(no I'm not a salesmen)
We also have one here with factory 22" wheels. these new vehicles suck to clean the new material is crap. Not including leather I'll stick with my 05 tahoe It's more rugged and off roadie then the new ones. |

They're advertising the Silverado double cab 4x4 All Star edition with a $8100 total rebate right now.
prices are just getting
some of the new trucks are approaching house prices and people are financing them for longer and longer ohh and for the record I absolutely hate the LED strip/running lights that everybody is putting on new vehicles |
Just for comparison, changes in MSRP over the years:
2000 Ford Explorer Limited 4dr 4x4 MSRP $34,150 2014 Ford Explorer Limited 4dr 4X4 MSRP $40,100 Increase in MSRP of $5,950$ over 14 years. 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4Dr 4x4 MSRP $27,845 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4Dr 4x4 MSRP $50,490 Increase in MSRP of $22,645 over 14 years. Numbers from Cars.com. Last Chevy product my family owned was a 2000 Suburban. It was a great vehicle, but I'd never pay what they're asking for one these days. |
Sticker price wasn't that much different on my '12 LTZ. Have been toying with getting another, but really dislike the new body. The Denali has a better looking front, but the rear still blows, which is unfortunate.
How else are they supposed to recoup their losses from the Chebby Volt??? Oh wait, that's from "our" pockets...

View Quote Nice. |
I thought the new ones were horrible based purely on their looks.
Seeing their insane pricing makes them even worse. |

Pricing is nuts. You can get a 10-year old Z71 for $10k that will do everything as well (except the being brand new part). In fact I've got a 2004 Z71 in awesome condition that I'd probably have a hard time getting $9k for- to think that I'd have to add $45k-$50k on a trade-in to have the new version just makes zero sense to me at all. The math just doesn't back itself up.

Invoice on a '15 4x4 LTZ with sun, entertainment and destinations pkg was $66,825 (not mine, I'd never pay that much)
They're nice but man that new body style is going to take some serious growing on me. The previous look was much better

They are great for adding bike and kayak racks. |

I've liked the last couple years of the tahoes and suburbans i've had as rentals over the last few years, but if they have more than 25k on the odo they're usually falling apart with squeaks and rattles all over. the tahoe i had last week had the armrest peeling off the drivers door.

It's the talk of town....they're nice, but expensive.
GM always made a bunch of $ on their SUVs though.

Not 8 ft. in the air like a hickmobile, but not factory looking either. I can dig it |

Yet there is no better large people mover in existence.
The expedition is behind the times. Once it gets an upgrade the market may not be so cornered. |
