C&D tested over $70K

$45.595 for a base model LS rear drive
$50,995 for a LT model
$59,995 for a LTZ model
add 3k for 4wd all models

Eta: base 45k not 49k

They're nice, but the prices have just gone full retard.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:24:34 AM EDT
There is no way I could afford or justify the price of an LTZ Tahoe. Their prices have gotten insane.

Fixed price on base LS, not that it makes much difference. Employee price on a base LS is still over $41K- they're pricing these things into extinction.

We wouldn't have both our '11 Suburban at these prices. I was shocked when I saw the sticker on a new one. Of course the Yukon and Escalades are worse...
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:34:25 AM EDT
I love my 05 suburban. But with young kids, there isn't a way in hell I'd want them eating, drinking and whatever else they do in the back two rows.

I figure even for a nobody 10% off would be a deal
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:36:56 AM EDT
Starting MSRP on an Expedition is $8k less, and a Sequoia is $5k less. Just sit back and wait for the $7-10k in rebates after these things have been sitting on the lot for an entire year... which is not exactly a new business model for GM.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:38:21 AM EDT
Take that price and add sales tax, insurance, maintenance and repairs. You better be a gazillionaire! Monthly payment would be $1700/month!
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:39:33 AM EDT
So should I hate the people I see driving them
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:39:43 AM EDT
And people bitch that the 4Runners are expensive...

Somebody has to pay those union benefits.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:43:19 AM EDT
If they're selling, it's priced correctly.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:43:25 AM EDT
I paid 8k out the door for my 2k2 Ford Excursion (gasser).

Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. A bit of a guzzler, but hey, it's a massive 'merican SUV.

Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:43:47 AM EDT
They are selling quite well here.
There isn't much competition for them since Ford dropped the Expedition and FIAT has nothing to offer.

There too expensive and yet where I work we've still sold 3 so far..(no I'm not a salesmen)
We also have one here with factory 22" wheels. these new vehicles suck to clean the new material is crap. Not including leather

I'll stick with my 05 tahoe It's more rugged and off roadie then the new ones.

Just imagine what they would cost without the taxpayer subsidies.

Think that's the case for most cars in general.

But the Tahoe...yeah...apparently it's an upper end luxury vehicle now

They're advertising the Silverado double cab 4x4 All Star edition with a $8100 total rebate right now.

Was wondering what DHS would be driving next.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:51:13 AM EDT
prices are just getting
some of the new trucks are approaching house prices
and people are financing them for longer and longer

ohh and for the record
I absolutely hate the LED strip/running lights that everybody is putting on new vehicles
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:55:40 AM EDT
Fuck new trucks. 60K for a full size 4x4 on big tires with a good solid power train and an offroad suspension?

HELL No.

Take that 60K and put it in a restored classic. For reference, I got this one for about 1/10 the cost. Restored body and interior (missing a couple trim pieces inside) Alpine stereo system, built 429 with a mid range cam, 10:1 heads, MSD ignition, and a 750CFM 4bbl. Riding on about a 3" suspension lift with new 35s.

I had to put on a new set of rear calipers, so call it 7K plus tax tag and title. Fuck new trucks.

Just for comparison, changes in MSRP over the years:

2000 Ford Explorer Limited 4dr 4x4 MSRP $34,150
2014 Ford Explorer Limited 4dr 4X4 MSRP $40,100
Increase in MSRP of $5,950$ over 14 years.

2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4Dr 4x4 MSRP $27,845
2014 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4Dr 4x4 MSRP $50,490
Increase in MSRP of $22,645 over 14 years.

Numbers from Cars.com.

Last Chevy product my family owned was a 2000 Suburban. It was a great vehicle, but I'd never pay what they're asking for one these days.

Sticker price wasn't that much different on my '12 LTZ. Have been toying with getting another, but really dislike the new body. The Denali has a better looking front, but the rear still blows, which is unfortunate.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 9:59:16 AM EDT
How else are they supposed to recoup their losses from the Chebby Volt??? Oh wait, that's from "our" pockets...

It's insane, but they have little competition.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 10:06:30 AM EDT
I thought the new ones were horrible based purely on their looks.

Seeing their insane pricing makes them even worse.

For 70k, I'd rather get a NEW Excursion...

Link Posted: 6/16/2014 10:15:11 AM EDT
Invoice on a '15 4x4 LTZ with sun, entertainment and destinations pkg was $66,825 (not mine, I'd never pay that much)
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 10:15:51 AM EDT
They're nice but man that new body style is going to take some serious growing on me. The previous look was much better

I have an 02 Ex now, and I love it. One of these days I'm going to trade it on a newer F250 and have it converted by these
guys.

I'm probably gonna pick up an 05-05 z71 in the next few months. Dump a little money in it and I'll be happy. They are great for adding bike and kayak racks.

Holy shit!!! Fuck that, I'd shop for a Land Cruiser instead or even the Lexus version.

I've liked the last couple years of the tahoes and suburbans i've had as rentals over the last few years, but if they have more than 25k on the odo they're usually falling apart with squeaks and rattles all over. the tahoe i had last week had the armrest peeling off the drivers door.
Link Posted: 6/16/2014 10:24:40 AM EDT
It's the talk of town....they're nice, but expensive.

GM always made a bunch of $ on their SUVs though.

mmmm I love how that sits..perfect height for my taste. Not 8 ft. in the air like a hickmobile, but not factory looking either. I can dig it

If you're going to pull out numbers, at least have the correct ones. Just for starters, you're $4k off on the LS

I think I got a pretty good deal for $800

Yet there is no better large people mover in existence.

The expedition is behind the times. Once it gets an upgrade the market may not be so cornered.
