Here is another one for you guys to judge. From '00 to now.

Raylan Givens - Justified
Elliott Stabler - L&O SVU
Jesse Stone - Jesse Stone series
Horatio Caine - CSI Miami
Andy Sipowicz - NYPD Blue
Brenda Johnson - The Closer
Olivia Benson - L&O SVU
Robert Goren L&O CI
Nash Bridges - Nash Bridges
Mac Taylor - CSI NYC

Im sure I forgot about plenty if I did feel free to add them. Its also multiple choice.

Yes I forgot Vic Macky and Cordell Walker.

No love for Jimmy McNulty?
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:03:56 AM EDT
I voted Raylan, but would have picked Vick Mackey if given the choice.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:04:24 AM EDT
L&O:SVU Elliot Stabler was the one t.v. show cop that I wanted to see get run over by a dogfood delivery truck and get draggged for miles.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:06:27 AM EDT
I went with Jessie and Raylan.

Once he left the show it wassnt the same. He was an intense dude.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:08:52 AM EDT
Nash, a relocated Crockett with a little bit more mellow personality, and a funny sidekick.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:23:50 AM EDT
Is this about the best cop from a policework perspective?  Or from a watchability perspective?

Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:30:49 AM EDT
Fail.   No Vic Mackie
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:31:46 AM EDT
I'll have to go with Nash, only because you left out LT. Dangle.
I hate serious cop shows.
That's why Super Troopers and 21 jump street are two of my favorite cop movies.

I liked Stabler. I wish he would have gone postal and killed a bunch of bad guys punisher style though.

Rick Grimes.

Are there cops in the post-zombie apocalypse?

ETA:  If not, then Hank Schraeder

Bullshit poll. No Vick Mackey?

And for that matter, no Hank Schrader?
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:37:27 AM EDT
No Texas Ranger Sgt. Cordell Walker?

Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:37:53 AM EDT
Not Brenda Johnson, but the broad from Major Crimes that played Laura Roslin on BSG. Yeah. Would smash.

Yeah, that poll is pretty bad.  At least half of the guys are from CSI/Law and Order variants.

You sure you didn't mean to post this version of Vic Mackey???

Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:46:02 AM EDT
I voted for Nash Bridges simply because he is the only name I recognized (I've never actually watched the show though.)
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:47:33 AM EDT
I don't know any of those names.

Can we do:
Barney Miller
Jim Rockford
Mike Cannon
Adam Twelfe

Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:47:55 AM EDT
I don't think I've seen any of those shows.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 10:49:37 AM EDT
I have no idea what's going on but Elliot Stabler and Vic Mackey

Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:26:35 AM EDT
I only had to read the first option in the poll before I voted
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:35:48 AM EDT

^ This.  And Tom Sellek is a hard core 2nd Amendment guy so he gets my vote.  Close second is Gary Senise as Mack Taylor in CSI NY.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:52:50 AM EDT
Raylan Givens would fuck all the other guys in the ass while he made them wear his hat....
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:55:53 AM EDT
The only one on your list who is not guilty is Olivia Benson.
Link Posted: 12/12/2013 11:58:16 AM EDT
Stabler is the only one whose name I recognize.

You're crazy, McNulty was a great character, and also a twat. But, I agree with Doucheatron3000 above, Lester was probably the best real cop on the show.

I voted for Sipowicz, though I'd hardly called NYPD Blue a 2000s cop show, it was the best of the genre right up until The Wire.

Vote for those we know of?

For me it has to be Lester from the Wire.

I remember watching the first couple episodes and thinking "who is this fucking guy?'

I don't think he spoke til the 3rd episode, he would just sit at his desk playing with his furniture.

Greatest show ever.
