Always thought about getting a Block.  Well I have a guy who wants to sell me a Glock 30SF with 2 mags for $500.  Gun has 20 rounds through it.

So I think if it is a fair deal I shall get it.  Opinions?

I really like my new Glock  but now I feel like I'm cheating on my 1911s

It's a gun, not gay sex.  It doesn't alter anything about your life.  Don't like it?  Flip it.  One more gun buried off the ATFs registry...

Typical 1911 owner question.  Hop back on the turnip truck, old man!

$500 is fair, but you could prob scoop up a NIB blue label w/ 3 mags for about the same, if not less.

Thought do.  Since it is "fair" I'm going to get it and help him out.

My daily carry is a block.  I'd say the price is so so. It's still "used".

He works for me and I want to be fair.  He said $500.  What should I offer?  He bought it 2 months ago in AZ.  He said he paid almost $600.

I think you will be disappointed in it. Save a little more and get another quality 1911.

He probably did.  Doesn't mean a used Glock with only 2 mags is worth more than $450 though.

And you may wind up loving that G30.  I've had a friend or two convert to Glock shooters after buying one.

I have 5 and have been thinking about a Glock in 40S&W for some time.  But that would just make a different cal I have to buy.  Since this is .45 it seems to make sense.

If you're a 1911 (and thereby a 45 guy) then don't piss about with a fo'tay.

Get a new gen4 G19.

Then your accessories(including 33 round factory mags) are endless and ammo is cheap.

It really is the most versitile pistola available.

Not a screaming deal. You could find cheaper on the EE if plastic is your thing... Kidding Glocks are great tools for SHTF...
Link Posted: 1/25/2014 4:33:21 AM EDT
As an 1911 guy who also has plenty of Glocks I'll say G30 was my least favorite.  I think It's the only Glock I have ever sold.  The short, fat grip just never worked for me.  Full size Glocks 17, 34, ect are my favorite followed by the 19.

The price is a little high in my area for a used Glock.

$500 is a fair price, not a deal. If your dealing with a coworker then a fair price might be the best way to go. Don't try to squeeze the guy for a lousy $50, it's not that much cash, and you might need a favor in the future.

If you've got the cash and want to take a walk on the wild side, buy the Glock. You might find you like it. I'm also a 1911 guy and I impulse bought a Glock one day while killing time at the gun store. Mine is a subcompact 10mm (G29) and I bought it because I wanted to try out that cartridge. I like it well enough to keep it, and I occasionally toy with buying another Glock, if I can find one priced right.

On the other hand, Glock is not the second coming, regardless what the fan boys say. It's just a gun, nothing spectacular. Some guns have something really special about them, Glocks do not. Buy it, shoot it, decide for yourself. If you don't like it, sell it and go on with life.

Good luck.

Not that good of a deal. Break $500 and then maybe.

See if you can find a local place to shoot one first.

If you like it, snap it up.

ETA I shot a couple of Glocks that a friend had when I first started looking at pistols years ago. I also shot some others. Turned out I just didn't like the feel of the Glocks in my hand.

I would suggest to anyone when they are shopping to pick up a bunch of guns and you will eventually come to one that puts a smile on your face. Then buy that one.

I like 1911s also, but my Glock 30 is my favorite .45, I say go for it OP.

1911 guy here too.  The Blocks are not so bad after you put good triggers in them . Which is something most good 1911 come with .

Only for another year or so then I get orders back to the right coast.  So can I get higher cap mags for it than 10 RDS?

M&P would be a better choice for a 1911 guy. Think of it as an improved upon Glock design, with grip angle more similar to the 1911 and more comfortable/customizeable.

First thing your going to do is notice it doesn't point naturally to you. Then your gonna hate the sights and change them. Then your gonna wish it had different grips etc. Then after spending another $100 on stuff you may keep it or wish you hadn't bought it for that price cause now your in it for $600. Good luck, hope you enjoy it.
