I loved the original movie.

Who watched the new series tonight?  Thoughts?

I'm watching it right now and so far I like it.

I'm liking the similarities between the show and movie.

I'm guessing when Cole meets Goines in 1987 is possibly referring to the Asylum?

The movie was abysmal...can't imagine the TV show will be much better.

Just saw it so I'm bumping this thread.  Great acting, great story so far, suspenseful with nice complimentary music.

SyFy often has good ideas and terrible execution--this show is looking not to be the case!  I have high hopes for this show and its cool how the series will allow them to expand upon ideas from the movie.

9/10 based on the first episode.

Gotta admit, first ep was much better than anticipated.

After watching the first two episodes I'm hooked, great acting, and production values way beyond what I expected.

Finally caught ep 2.  I'm in for awhile, see where they take it.  Amanda Schull doesn't hurt either.

The movie was great. The show looks absolutely terrible.

I am waiting to watch the second episode when it airs.

Like I said in my post about the SyFy channel, it seems that they have gone back to their Sci-Fi roots.

12 Monkeys looks like a good show.

I like how the show started.

The movie was not that great.

It was your typical explosion/shoot out ADD movie.

The TV show is set at a pace where you're going to have to use your brain.

I agree with you VA-gunnut,

I concur. Could have been so much better. Wasted opportunity, played like a treatise on mental health treatment.

I enjoyed the movie immensely.  5th Element, 6th Sense, Looper, Bruce Willis has made some excellent Sci Fi.

Same with Tom Cruise.

The movie isn't anywhere near one of my favorites, but the visual style and soundtrack are at least interesting. Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt were also pretty good and that made it a bit more tolerable as well, which was surprising since that movie came out before people genuinely picked up on Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt being more than just action stars or pretty boys, they've both gotten a lot more range since then.

The show just comes off like generic sci-fi. Might be good, but it didn't really blow my skirt up, either.

The movie was good.

The series looks good too.

I have only seen the pilot.

Looks like they are filling holes in the movie.

I'm neutral on the movie.  I saw in the theater when it came out, I remember thinking it was okay, but I haven't watched it again.  But I'll give the show a shot.

Brad Pitt was top shelf crazy good in the original.  He stole the movie from Bruce Willis.

I'm all caught up on the first two episodes now and I'm really impressed with this show. I agree with the posters above who pointed out that the quality of this program is well above the sort of production I would normally expect to see from SyFy.

Also, Emily Hampshire's character has teh crazy and I like it.

I was into the pilot but yes, the second episode felt much more paint by the numbers.  Sometimes shows/writers find their way though.  Guess we'll see.

Yes. Yes he did...

Got an Oscar nod for the part IIRC.

Show is looking good so far.

Did anyone notice the differences between the broadcast version without commercials and the re-broadcast version the next day. They cut a lot of little tidbits to make room for commercials. For anyone interested, catch it unedited on On Demand. The little bits of dialog flesh out the characters better.

They cut the dialogue with Cole eating the nuts and cheeseburger. The arrest scene was cut. A few other bits were trimmed. I rewatched it the next day with someone and noticed it right away.
