Cabela's has 1000 rd of Herter's .223 with w (2) .50 cal cans (cheap plastic) for $280 shipped with code 3winter.

It may not be the best ammo, but it is .28 /round for everyone who said we would never see sub .30/round again.

Steel cased Russian. Wolf/Tula. Not a terrible deal, but my Stag has had problems with it.

I bought a couple thousand of that late spring/early summer from Cabelas @ $309 shipped.

Not such a good deal until it gets down to ~$225. <---which it will.

I have a Colt and LMT that won't eat steel case ammo at all.

Also had a mixmaster with a model1sales barrel that would shoot steel cased ammo all day long without hiccups.

Same here.

My Sig 556 will eat it up though.

I can honestly say that I've never shot them. But at that price, if none of my ARs like it, I'll sell it on the local market and easily clear my investment.

My Stag also. Actually, I don't have an AR* that really likes the Steel cased stuff. Eat Brass easy, though.

*-I've seen 'em. I just don't own 'em.

Well, a $20 off coupon, and my unused points, along with ship to store, and it was $225 for 1000. I have a new P-TAC that might like it better than the Stag. ;)

And to all the Colt snobs: LOL.

Should've bought an S&W M&P15... Ate every sort of ammo with ease, with a better fit and finish than a Colt!

If it were brass cased it would be a deal, not for steel though.
Link Posted: 12/13/2013 4:26:22 PM EST
Steel cased, but a good deal for barter/SHTF close range stuff.
Link Posted: 12/13/2013 4:28:25 PM EST
My Spike's will chew right thru that.

Thanks OP

If things get desperate you can pull the projectiles and reload some brass rounds.

$280 for steel cased 223

PSA armory has better deals on better ammo

Glad I reload

My Sig 556 classic hates tulsa ammunition. Every time I run a mag through it, at least one round gets stuck in the chamber and needs to be knocked out with a cleaning rod. I've had no issues with brass cased ammo and the rifle though.
