how big a dehumidifier do i need for a 17x17ft sq basement room?

id rather have a unit a bit too large than one too small for the job...

bought a 25 pint unit today, but...rethinking this purchase.

Square footage is only one of the things to look at.

Depends on location, how well it's ventilated, all sorts of things.

Give it a try, let it run and see how it does.

Just like anything else, don't spend $50 to take care of 10 grand worth of firearms.

I think he was suggesting you hook the drain line in to your sump pump, so that the unit can run continuously and you don't have to drain it all the time.

17x17 isn't really that big, and it really depends on a lot of other factors.  You might just have to dump it more if you have a smaller unit if you want it to run all the time.
