I need about 400 gallons, and I have a hunch I'm going to have to bend over and grab my ankles when I start making calls tomorrow.

Keep talking... |
How much LP do you guys use in a typical winter in Ohio? We have natural gas here and it is getting high too.
I don't buy LP, we have natural gas. |
touche. I pay $900/year for homeownners insurance right now, still cheap around here. |
Not in that quantity, but my vehicles run on propane.
I'm paying $1.80 a gallon. I imagine it's cheaper in your quantity. |
It sort of depends. In my case, I only use it for heat. My stove, water heater, and dryer are electric. With my little ~1200 sq ft house at 72, I end up using about 600 gallons during the season. When early spring hits, I shut the heat off. I'll probably turn it on about November. |
That's because you're a townie. |
Yep |
Look at pellet stoves |
1.83 last time I got it 375 gal cost me about 650 bucks that hurt
We're stuck with natural gas... Our small place consumes about $300 worth or so a month. It makes me sick to my stomach, just watching that money go up the chimney.
I thought about converting to LP, but it doesn't appear as if there would be any benefit to it. I have a wood stove in the basement, but no stovepipe hung outside yet. Last quote I got was over $2000 for 30ft of triple wall stainless... With a cord of split firewood now up to $149 around here, It almost doesn't seem worth the trouble unless I cut the damn trees down and split them myself. Looks like we're just 'gonna keep paying the damn gas company whatever they decide to charge. I think we will be buying some blankets and electric space heaters this season. I almost wonder if I should install a few baseboard electric heaters throughout the house... I never thought I'd see the day when it's cheaper to heat a home with electric heat. |
And you don't sound a day over 65! 72 seems to old. |
I just ordered up 250 gallons. Cost me $500.50. I'll have to wait until next month to order more.
This sucks. |
I have an add on wood burner in our house, it ties into the furnace ductwork. I burn wood after work and on weekends, still have 5% left in my tank and I filled it March of '06...500 gal tank BTW ETA: I booked ahead and paid $1.34 with $.10 per gallon down. I burn a few thousand gallons on our dryer bins, I allway's book ahead when the market is down. |
contracted ours in at 1.65 i thought that was high. but then i remember the days when i thought .53 cents was high. man how it has changed.
i think the going is around 2 something now, i did ours at the summer fill in July and contract with what were going use for the year. i usually over estimate it and end up with extra so in march they can fill me up till oct. good luck, i think its going be a rough winter with gas and heating. He will laugh right back at you when your taxes pay for his home being destroyed. |
Good point. |
72?
That's a bit odd, esp for someone who doesn't have a fixed source. |
For a 1,000 gallon tank we locked in at $1.67/gal this year, PREPAID.Last year it was at $1.49 PREPAID
No LP, except for the grill...run NG...It was hard as hell to find in OH too.
Crap, that word used to mean "long playing Records" you know the ones that were made of vinyl and cost $5 when introduced (1952?) and ran all the way up to $10 around 1975 |
I pre-bought 700 gallons at $1.80, last year was $1.65. Northern MN.
Our highest monthly gas bill to heat 1500sq with NG is $150 and that's Dec/Jan type months.
600 gallons @ $1.80 is a touch over $1000 for LP that's insane. Is there no natural gas lines there in the sticks? |
Or water lines, or sewer lines, or... It really is the only way to fly, but I still like to bitch every now and then. |
Werd. I need to start burning wood. The 700 gallons is good for the heating season. Thats heating the mainfloor of my house at 1900 sq ft @ 70F and my 1300 sqft garage @ 55F. My basement is heated with hydronic infloor radiant heat supplied by an electric boiler. This is on a duel fuel service @ 4.2 cents/kWhr. |

Thanks for the reminder Subnet...
I called my elevator, and Liquefied Petroleum dealer, currently contracting at $1.66/gallon. I will be contracting another THOUSAND GALLONS @ $1,660.00 Then I have a whole $60.00 left from last year. EDIT to add: UP .17 cents from last years $1.49 They just filled it up last week, so I have a little over 900 gallons. They always top it off when its around half a tank... |
LIVE PROPANE TANK FILL FROM SUBNETVILLE?? |
GET A CALENDER! Ours gives a weekly turn page for the year type calender. |
Ugh. $1.88/gal + $30 tax on 250 gal.
I really need to look into contracting it next year, because I'm gonna get screwed come January. I just know it. |
How do you figure?????? Subnet: Just book January now. |
Sorry I forgot... Home heating fuel is NOT taxed in the State of Minnesota... |
Sweet |
Just filled mine up for $1.69/gal. The regular price is gonna be $1.79.
I'm NG here........... in my HURRICANE ZONE!!!!!!!
And my homeowners ain't THAT much. Meany head. Subnet is just being pissy cuz he has to fill up his LP tank. Live web cam for the fill up??? |
it ain't us guys...........propane is as high right this moment as it has EVER been. ever.
not to mention that the gov't is now requiring our fucking safety valves to have safety valves which as you can imagine, aren't cheap. it's ridiculous, my dad can remember paying .03 per gallon wholesale and he ain't that damned old! |
i live in ohio and my gas bill for all of last year was 170.00 got to love running wood heat and wood water heater during the winters. and tankless water heater in the summers. sure it takes me two weekends to split the wood but that still comes out cheaper in labor than the trade off for the piped in gas. plus we have humidifeid heat from this and it really is a warmer heat than gas.
