I am fairly new to AR's and think that it is time to expand my mag collection (1).  I don't know much about USGI 30's, but I was told they are the best.  What are the differences between brands though?

I have dozens, some of the best are old worn Adventurelines.  OKay's are the nicest of the new ones.  I even have some FN's.

Very few of any brand fail to work, if they do you can always paint them with permasilk and sell them here as new.

As far as I know, they all had to meet the same QC and production standards. One is as good as another.

Isn't there a mag faq?

Isn't there a magazine forum?

I will type this one more time...

Most USGI mags are milsurp...

When I was in, we cleaned mags in bunches. Strip them down to piles of floorplates, springs, followers & bodies. Reassembled in reverse order.

When I buy mags, I assume the name on the floorplate is anything but the body manufacturer.  Unless you buy a mag NIW, I would say you can assume the same.

I go for rivet count, lip & tab condition. Nothing more.

I like all the USGI mags.  I mostly have Sanchez and LaBelles.

Out of all my mags new, like new (out of wrapper), and used Sanchez are the best.  Unless someone went to the trouble to prophesy (not prophecy) which ones I would buy and put Sanchez floor plates on the good ones I would get.

OKay would be second.

There were some mags, Coopers IIRC (not 100%sure), that only had 3 'rivets', circular body weld spots on the front & back edges, that were deemed 'substandard'.

I make sure mine have at least 6, and some go as many as 8 or 9. Just trying to limit Murphy.

Roger that!  I did the exact same thing.  Some of the best mags were so worn they didn't have much finish left on them.
