I don't know why this does not surprise me....scares me a little

If you owe the .gov they will always get it back, especially if they are holding your money for you as in SS. Should come as no surprise.

If you're under 45 years old, don't plan on having Social Security, or if you do get it, it will be a very small amount relative to inflation.

Or, at least, that's my take on things.  I'm sure there are other people that think in 2035 it'll be completely funded, but not me.

I'm 39 years old, and I don't expect SS to be there for me. No freakin' way.

I am 43 and absolutely do not expect social security to be there for me in the future.  Provide for your own retirement and if the gov actually does contribute with a few $$ from social security (or other) count it as a bonus.
