"If your man loves you, he'd buy you expensive jewelry. If you're not getting something expensive for valentine's day, maybe you should start looking for a man who will buy you things!"

The funniest tie-ins for valentine's day I've heard this year were:
1. Tanning salon: "Getting a tan for valentines day??" WHY????
2. Puppy store. "This puppy is the best valentines day gift I could have received!!!"

$14 for 2 dozen roses at Sam'sClub.

Bought them last Friday and they still look fine. (friday before last I bought 2 doz for the same price, which lasted a week before droopin so since the 3rd of Feb, my sweetie has been oohing and ahhhhing over her flowers all at a total cost of $28)

YMMV, but I'd sooner shoot the bastard attempting to rape me over the V-Day cost of a few roses, than pay'em.....

I don't celebrate it at all. Church pulled the feast day in '69, so there's nothing to celebrate for me.

I don't do Hallmark Holidays. "Buy stuff becuase we want you to buy our stuff!" Blech.

Haven't had a female to leech off for Valentine's Day yet.

I still don't get how a Roman teacher who got executed and had a student write him a letter started a crass commercial holiday around Hollywood romance.

We went to a formal dinner Saturday night. Cost was about $80. Other than cards, we agreed that that would be our celebration for this holiday.

For my wife and daughter, between the jewelry, cards, dinner and whatnot, it'll set me back $300.

They're worth it.

I made 50 cents!

We're having a singles/we hate V-day party with a $5 white elephant gift. Bought a Chipotle gift card for $5 and they had a promo going on where you can bring the receipt back for a free burrito ($5.50), which I'll be cashing in tonight.

She doesn't expect you to watch it with her, does she?  I know the kind of movies my girl likes are a tax on my sanity that can't be measured in monetary value.he
Even if she tells you she doesn't want anything for Valentines day, you should get her a bouquet anyway and send it into her place of work so she will feel appreciated in front of her girlfriends.  Trust me, speaking from experience, it works wonders.  She won't be able to wait to pay you back. hty.gif

It's the latest Zorro movie.  We saw it together and we both liked it.  So if she expects me to watch it with her again that would be fine with me.  I don't mind at all looking at Cathrine Zeta-Jones for a couple hours.

The usual $3.99 for a card and a rose from the front yard. Oh yeah, I also write her a love poem every year... after 16 years I'm getting pretty good at it.  I'll also make breakfast for her in the morning.

I think its neat you guys are buying your honey's something special.  Things have been hectic around my house so it won't be too romantic but I'm making my husband BBQ steaks and shrimp [his request], toss salad, home made rolls and pie for desert.

No gifts.
