Looking for one of these.  I am switching back to Comcast(I know, there isn't any other internet providers in my area other than slow ass Uverse) so I don't want to rent their modem and would like to buy my own.  Need one with a good strong signal to reach throughout a 3500 sq. ft. house and into the back yard.  Thanks

sb6121, and a router with antenna connectors, put a patch antenna pointed towards the back yard on one of the connectors, and one pointing slightly up to the upper floors of your house, and then enjoy.

So, is it best to go with a separate modem and router?  Or get a all in one?

Separate is best.

Modem: latest Motorola Surfboard (Docsis 3.0)  http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/
Router: Asus or Netgear >$50
