Jeff

But can ya use them in yer state?
Here in WA it's wierd, we can do all the same things you guys can now, EXCEPT actually use one inside the state. We gotta go to OR or ID.

W00T! Things are looking up for gun owners!
Link Posted: 5/15/2008 7:17:52 PM EST
I thought that law only allowed SOTs to manufacture them in the state, and didn't have anything to do with peons owning them?    Do you have the text of the bill?

SWEET!
Link Posted: 5/15/2008 7:19:17 PM EST
Congrats. We just got that good stuff in Kansas too.

Even a C&R FFL?  That's cool.  Not really allowing joe six-pack to get them, but a step in the right direction.

Got to have a C&R to have anything NFA in Missouri.

So you'r gonna give em away free to ARFCOM team members for the first couple months riiiiight...
Link Posted: 5/15/2008 7:25:52 PM EST
My guess is that there will be a whole bunch of people who suddenly decide to become "Collectors"  stepping forward in Missouri to get their C&R License.

I've had mine since 2004 in anticipation of such a law change, and also in case I ever found a smoking deal on any transferrable MG's.

The way I read the bill, it allows C&R holders to own but not use suppressors.  Exciting for CMMG since they get to manufacture but for the rest of us it's just an expensive "curio, ornament, or keepsake".  Am I missing something?
Link Posted: 5/15/2008 10:59:19 PM EST
Nice.  Kansas just joined those ranks.  1JUL08

I really hope that's not the case here...

Still a $200 fee?

Yes, you are missing something.  The law is now in line with exactly how it works for SBR's and MG's.

You could all move to New Zealand, no nasty suppressor taxes there!

Bump and thanks for CMMG's hard work

Unless you have a 5320.20 and you are only visiting temporarily from another state.  Ask me how I know.

CMMG,

Thanks for your efforts with this bill!  I never cared about anything NFA related, as far as ownership goes, but this is one thing that I'm very excited about.  Knocking 30db or so of my rifles report would be nice considering I already have hearing loss.  That with plugs should make a lot of difference.

Now, I'm going to have to start reading up on things.  My C&R is in-hand, just need to figure out what I want.

Yup.  If you had to have specific permission to "use" an item defined as a curio, ornament, or keepsake, nobody would shooting old Mosins and Mausers and Enfields now would they?  Bottom line: use is implied with possession.

Excellent job by CMMG and a few others who were in on the ground floor of this thing.  They had the plan, they had the money, they had the BALLS to put it in motion.

Jeff, a big thanks to all the hard work you guys at CMMG put into this......

As much as we like to complain, it is nice to see that there is evidence that the tide could be turning.  A SCOTUS decision, and dodging Obama would put us in the dirver's seat....I hope.

Go MO!!!

ETA:  THANK YOU CMMG!!   And I am not eve from MO...
Link Posted: 5/16/2008 7:59:06 AM EST
Now the question is since Kansas just legalized these as well, and (hoping) MO legalizes them, will I be able to come shoot with a suppressor in MO without an FFL?

There are going to be some who disagree with me but we just had a thread about this in the MOHTF.  Several believe that you will need to have some type of FFL to be in Missouri and legally be in physical possession of said item.  C&R FFL is $30/3 years.  No CLEO sign off for a C&R.

It'd be a while for me anyways as I'm not 21 until next June.  I just figured I'd ask.

Excellent news, I've been pining for this day to arrive. Now the only thing left on my list banned by MO is an M203.

I figure I'll be sending about $600 to the federal treasury.

Whenever I see a canned M-14, I can't stand up.

As a Contest, why not?

The winner(s) would still have to cough up the $200 Transfer Tax.  But so what?
The peons of Missouri will finally be able to boycott AAC!  *rimshot*

This can show the Democrats that Gun Control will make them lose out on elections almost every time.

A C&R is really easy to get, easier than a CCW.  I turned 21 last year and got mine finally, just had to wait a while for the paperwork to be processed.  You will save more than $30 from website discounts and FFL transfer fees if you buy C&R firearms.

I think to cross state lines with an NFA item you have to get permission from the ATF first.

Not true of suppressors and AOW's as I read it.  If you have other toys, MG's, SBR's or SBS's then it's probably best to just get it all done to CYA.  I have been an NFA reading MoFo today.

Will you guys be carrying AAC cans?

I thought it was with every NFA item you had to fill out some...form...thing.

You can BUILD a suppressor, OWN a suppressor, BUY a suppressor, SELL a suppressor, but not USE a suppressor?

What the fuck do they think you're going to do with it, use it for a paperweight?

"Like my new paperweight? I had to pay $200 to the feds for the privilege of being registered like a sex offender for owning it, but it sure keeps my desk tidy."

NOT true! You may own Curio & Relic eligible NFA within the state with no FFL. IF it is a non- C&R item then yes, you must have an FFL of sorts.
