My sister is looking to buy her husband binoculars for Christmas. Does anyone have a recommendation as to which brands etc. He will probably take them hunting (deer and bear in PA) and probably use them at sporting events etc. She didn't give me a price range. Price is not a big concern for her. Any help is appreciated.

I bought a nice pair of Leupold binoculars a couple years ago. I can't recall the model though. Since price is no object they can get a much nicer set to be sure, but I found the clarity of these to be very good.

Steiner binoculars are great but extremely expensive. I have both a pair of Nikon's and a pair of Leupold's that probably cost less combined then a pair of Steiner's.

< Waiting for the Steiners in my Chrismas stocking. $150ish on sale at BassPro. And no, my wife won't let me see them..........she's like that about certain things.

I once stared at the sun for an entire hour through a pair of binoculars.

Leica?

As long as price is no object.
