Make sure the rifle is unloaded, goes without saying.

Remove the bolt and carrier and charging handle.

Remove the handguards.

Remove the gas tube.

Take off the barrel nut with the wrench.

Slide the barrel out of the upper, you're done.

The barrel nut is really stuck on there, I'm afraid I might bust something, any hints?

Not to be a smart ass, but are you turning it in the correct direction? You did remove the gas tube?

Some are real tight and some almost come off with finger pressure. Just make sure you have full engagement with the wrench. In a worst case scenario you may have to replace the barrel nut if you round any of the teeth off.

That's the smart/safe way to do it.

Finally got it off, I put the whole works in the freezer and it popped right off with a nudge. Lefty loosy, righty tighty. Front sight pins where a pain to knock out.
Hougue Overmolded freefloat foreend tube and grip are on!!!
