LGS has the 9mm carbine with plastic stock. Thinking with a red dot it might make a handy gun for pests around the farm. Anyone have one who can give me some input as to reliability, accuracy, etc.? Thanks.

I wanted to look at one when I was in the local Big 5. I believe the bayonet lug is plastic, but whatever. I like the idea of M9 mags though. I don't know what they "should" cost as they are over 650 here. I would imagine 400 would be OK price on one.

No but she bears a startling resemblance to Rosamund Pike.

Would smash.

No personal experience but the reviews are pretty bad.

Also would smash.

$300-399 I might be interested. People don't pay $500+ for an M1 carbine for practicality. It's cuz it's a collectible and well made. Imitations in my opinion aren't that sight after. Especially with lots of plastic parts. That 9mm option makes it cool...

I love the concept, but I haven't heard anything good about them.

Here you go, OP:

Run, run far away and tell your friends to run away. Wait for somebody more technically savvy like Lorcin or Hi-point to make one.

For the money they seem pricey. If around $400 I'd be in assuming it runs ok. That said, I'd be tempted to take a M1 carbine mag and slip it over the 9mm to make it look better though. I did that with a Ruger 10/22 I converted to look like an M1 carbine years ago like this:

Gun? What gun?

You know, Chiappa has some interesting concepts but their execution has been sorely lacking.

Look for a Marlin Camp-9? Get a Colt model AR6450?
Link Posted: 2/14/2016 11:22:10 PM EDT
Didnt ruger mske a lil 9mm called the camp carbine
Link Posted: 2/14/2016 11:23:26 PM EDT
Even if it worked, mounting a red dot looks like a fucktacular experience.

I'd be tempted to pick one up cheap just to see if I could get it running, but there are a lot of better 9mm carbine options out there.

Get a AR in 9mm. You will be happier.

Ruger made carbines in 9mm and 40 that used Ruger mags. When I was an RO down in Florida, Sunrise PD issued them as Patrol rifles. I got to see them qualify with them a couple times a year. Holy shit. 50-yard groups looked like buckshot patterns. Ruger finally made a rifle that patterned WORSE then a Mini-14.

I've seen two that sold at a LGS....Both came back.

I've first-hand experience with their .22 Carbine.....It sucked major ass. Thank goodness I was able to trade it off and broke even on it.

I'm guessing those officers didn't really train much with them.
Once I got used to the "is the safety on?" trigger, mine grouped just fine.
Reliable as fuck, as well. Only problems I've had were due to crap aftermarket mags.
(FU Promag and USA mags.)

Chiappa is Italian for steaming cat turd.
Link Posted: 2/15/2016 11:09:48 AM EDT
While my Chiappa M4 PRO-2 upper has been flawless (only malfunction was ammo related) I won't buying anything else Chiappa/Citadel though.

Here's a question: What's worse than a Chiappa .22lr upper? The Armscor .22lr you try to feed it.

ARES SCR lower, 9x19mm mag block, bullet button, 10 rnd mag?
Link Posted: 2/15/2016 11:36:17 AM EDT
Yes I own one (CT). Only non researched impulse buy In have ever done. Cool gun at a good price.

The 9mm version is supposedly not a total POS like the .22 version they make. That said mine is janky. Failure to feed/fully go into battery constantly, factory 10rnd Beretta mags and the provided mags. Went back to the factory. Returned with same problem.

Stopped doing this about 200 rounds in, but the action doesn't feel smooth.

That said its a fun gun and the mag compatibility between my Beretta 92 makes it a cool trunk gun platform. Its very light in the poly stock. I put a tiny piece of clear plastic tubing over the charging handle so its more comfortable, makes it perfect (like latex tubing).

Considering I seem to be one of the few having issues (while the .22 is everyone), I'd say fuck it and risk it if the price is $3-400. Definitely if you own a Beretta 92.

Well, they want 495 for it. Camp carbines go for a lot more than that around here if you can find them so I wouldn't mind spending the money if I could be at least some what asured that the thing would work half way decently.
