When: March 31-April 2. Where: 35 miles northeast of Reno, Nevada. High desert, camping and obstacles at 5800', range at 6000'. Fifteen miles of dirt roads. If the roads are dry, standard sedans can make it to the site. If there is mud or snow, 4x4 required. Weather at this location at this time of year varies wildly. We may have, during the event, several inches of snow, or highs in the mid 70s, or anything in between. Lows at this elevation are likely drop below 40 every night. There is cell service at some parts of the site. A secure parking/shuttle area is available with only three miles of dirt, accessible in poor weather by sedans. update 3/28/16 - currently several inches of snow on the ground at 4500', more expected today. CWWII will be cold, wet, muddy, and likely snow in the camping areas as well as everywhere else. Come prepared. 3/28/16 ![]() Fly into Reno (RNO) for easy transport. Fly into Sacramento if you love communism. Fly into Vegas (LAS) if you want an extra 450 miles each way to get to the event. Maps will be emailed as the event nears. Pink indicates obstacle area, blue line the 1/2 mile run, and red the main axis of the shooting line. Local accommodations: Enough dry camping for half of arfcom is available on site. Portajohns will be onsite to answer the call of nature. The site is about an hour from downtown Reno, Sin City Junior. No major events in Reno are expected that weekend, and deals abound at the end of ski season. Nearest fuel and food to the site is approximately 25 miles. EDIT: Homewood Suites is offering a limited number of discount rooms for event goers. Thanks to Rigmarole on this hookup. Great for getting your SO to come with on this adventure. Sleeping arrangements on site: There may be an RV on site, and there will be a cook tent. Otherwise, please pack whatever camping gear in the manner you are accustomed to-tent, sleeping bag, and I recommend a tarp to place your tent on. We don't really have those funny tall green things you easterners expect for hanging hammocks. Plenty of rocks though, and lots of firewood available onsite with minimal effort. Food: Vets and various locals will be likely providing community dinners. Breakfast will likely be basic, bacon and bacon. There's noise of a chili cook off as well, which we all expect to lose to SigChef. We've done a whole pig in the ground at this location in the past, and we're going to shoot for that for Friday night. Liquid Refreshment: Cases of water will be provided, and there are likely juniper berries to flavor it. And rocks. Everyone likes rocks, right? There may be some adult beverages on site, both in camp and at the Bad Idea Bar, overlooking the whole event. Getting to the bar will be tricky, getting back from it is easy, it's all downhill. And rocks. Signups: Announcing 100% In here is good. Signing up on the google docs form will make sure you don't get missed, and will get directions, updates, and direct communications. Get both. Event is full, by signups. Not everyone will show up. Keep signing up, but consider yourself on standby. List will be updated as people drop off and standbies move in. As we get closer to the event (weeks, then days) everyone will be confirming travel plans or bowing out. I plan to run everyone who signs up and shows up, regardless of what the numbers are. The 75 number is for planning group food and swag bags more than anything else, especially if you're flexible on run times. We'll have the ability to run people all day Sunday after the official event for Vet status, as well as the better part of two weeks before hand for Vet and Prizes. House Range Rules: The usual two pistol mags, two rifle mags rule is in effect. However, there will be no capacity limit to the mags, or belts. Beta mags, drums, etc are all good to go. To balance that, you only have 10 minutes from the first round fired to complete the course of fire. To avoid tearing up the nifty reactive steel targets, please don't plan on bringing calibers that exceed 3500 fps at the muzzle or 3500 ft/lbs of energy. Due to fire risk (really) and general liability, no ammo that attracts a magnet can be used. Every effort will be made to run anyone who shows up, regardless of signup and Vet status. Lower guys on the list, and lack of vet status, may not get fed or swagged though, but you can get your run in and have a shot at prizes, as well as achieve vet status for the future. Remember, a top 10 finish at a regional such as West gives you a shot at a slot at the Championship in Liberty MS. Signups for Championship are now open for April 30 Donations: Donations to cover event food, portajohns, and other expenses are willingly accepted. Scare_Crow has graciously volunteered to be the Sultan of Finance for us, and is accepting donations sent via paypal (gift) to [email protected] . Cash is also welcome at the event to cover any backlog. Excessive funds will be forwarded for use at the next scheduled Cola event. Sponsors: MOA Targets is owned and operated by me, so it's a fair guess I'll be throwing something fun in. Maybe a T-Rex. ![]() ADW Knives (DamascusKnifemaker) is making something fancy for the best pistol shooter. BONUS: By no coincidence, this event schedule backs up to the annual MOA Targets (who is providing the event steel, and some sort of prize) Third Annual Anniversary Machine Gun Shoot, April 3. Saturday after Cola Warrior wraps up, the camping area will be shuffled around, and return to being the regularly scheduled range. That night, and Sunday morning, local stamp collectors and SOTs will start arriving with shenanigans in tow. All are welcome, and most of the owners are more than happy to let you shoot their stuff, especially if you bring ammo. |

That would be one hell of a road trip from VA. I wish I had a new enough truck to do it. Im sure my Bronco would make it but I would rather not chance it.
Good luck Warriors! |
